Air Sprayed Tatoos - We’re the Men! Congratulations To The Class of 2008 The Seniors at North Summit High School had a graduation ceremony they will always remember. It isn’t every day that the kids who went to kindergarten through their senior year are privileged to have their same teachers they started with end their ceremony at graduation! A rare treat twofold as they are both very energetic and still as fun to be around as they were when these youth were five! Marybeth Judd and Linda Garfield, dressed as old ladies, related the highlights and memories of yesterday! Humor and serious tones were attention keepers for the entire audience. The evening began with their entrance to the tune of James Sargent, a sophomore, playing the piano. Eagle Scout Seniors presented the flag, and the National Anthem was sung by Maria Hormas. Welcomed by Wes Collins, the Valedictorian and Salutatorian presented their remarks. Ashlin Olson, Valedictorian, talked about how great it was to be a North Summit Brave, and how they became friends over the years - and friends to everyone! Chase Black, Salutatorian, kept the audience alert as he discussed the things the seniors have all learned over the years. He then entertained the audience with his rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” - with his own lyrics. It was a great success and fun for the students to remember the good times they had together. They were then excited to hear the poem put together by Kaylie Hook, Aaron Beenfield and Stephen Dearden which included something about each person who graduated - and was very well done. It was after this that both of the kindergarten teachers entered the scene with their “old ladies” look! They took stalk of the lessons they taught to the kids, and it was certainly a great way to say good-bye to such a wonderful class. Principal Jerre Holmes then presented the students who were not able to attend the ceremony, and presented them with honorary diplomas - giving them to the parents of Justen Hale and Joseph B. Hunter. The standing ovation and tears spoke above any words that could have been said. Justen’s parents were able to accept the diploma for him, and Joe’s will be sent to his family. (Justen’s family also had a presentation to give to each student during the graduation party as a remembrance of his friendship). Principal Holmes presented the class of 2008 as Graduates of North Summit High School, and School Board member Mark Marsh handed out the diplomas. Each class has its uniqueness, and the class of 2008 will always be remembered by younger students, staff, and friends of those who graduated! Congratulations North Summit Braves - Class of 2008!
