For all intents, purposes and finality, you never did. If you can process that scenario, you are now able to comprehend the predicament faced by the one and three-quartmillion Albanians in Kosova As of today (4599), government sources report at least of the Albanian population er one-four- th has been purged from Kosovo, thereby rapidly decreasing the nine-to-oAlbanian to Serb ratio at a rate of 30,000 Albanians per day. By the time you read this article, there will be an estimated 250,000 Albanians either killed or driven out of the Kosovo region. This wholesale slaughter of the Albanian people is gniesomely reminiscent of the days of the Jewish Holocaust. And the dictator totally responsible for this condition is an almost exact personality replica of the originator of these unconscionable genocidal ne acts, Adolph Hitler. Slobodan e of Milosevic, a Serbian nut-cas- unbelievable cruelty, is apparently oblivious to the fact that with his limited manpower (and armament) vs. the world (aka NATO), there is no way he can win this stupid war he's caused. All he can hope to do is just what he's accomplishing, an intolerable amount of human suffering at an astronomical cost to several nations, and hopefully bring to a cataclysmic finish his own despotic reign. It is not only a monumental tragedy, but is senseless and unbelievably frustrating as well. The frequent surfacing of centuries-old, festering racial, ethnic and religious sores never seems to heal. Youd think people would be convinced by past history, that despite all the wan fought time and time again, over these same things, permanent solutions do not come out of these wars. And America, because of NATO (who, without America, would cease to be) is now in another war up to her arm pits. I find it ironic (a word much too tame for what Id like to say) that our current President, famous for executing several deft maneuvers in dodging the Viet Nam draft, even demonstrating in Russia against America's commitment to that war is now, as President, committing our American troops to an equally risky and maybe equally - War in Kosovo There's certainly the question of credibility. Dan Rather interviewed Mr. Clinton on TVs (2020, last week) and said to the President, People say you parse" your words too much. So when you said (in a recent, previous speech) that we will not have ground troops In Kosovo, what did you mean by that statement?" Clinton replied, It means just what it says. We will not have ground troops in Kosova I am very careful about the words I use. Careful? What did he mean by careful? Or by the word use ? Or even by the pronoun T? Today, the news media is alerting people that The Clinton admin- spent the day instead in Commission Chambers, where I I With the kids being out of school on Monday for Spring break, this added to the peaceful feeling of just taking some time off normally spend my Mondays. Unfortunately, the thought of the day being April 1st, with all its pranks and tricks, carried over into the rest of the week and I found myself just trying to hold my head above water, so to speak. It just seemed as if plans were turned topsy turvy-njust occasionally, but everyday. If its true that this type of day occurs so we will ot appreciate the truly great ones, then I believe I am ready for one of those and I will embrace it wholeheartedly. Soooo, I guess I will just blame everything on the Time Change and hopefully my life will adjust by next week. Thinking that we would not have any more cold weather or snow just because April Fools, the change to Daylight Savings and Easter (not to mention LDS Spring conference!) all fell in the same week, was pure optimism on my part. And, I will admit that talking about spring and reveling in the warm weather tempted fate. But actually daring Mother Nature to prove me wrong as to the arrival of spring was, in essence, my throwing down the gauntlet in the face of Mother Nature. It was a challenge. And she took it up. The keys of my computer were still warm from writing my "Spring is Here in your face Mother Nature" column when the weather started to change. Sunday's weather was warm and wonderful. But Monday found things cooling off and by the time the column came out in last week's paper. Winter was back in full swing. And, I can only think that it was partially my doing. Letters PIace write all the other "important If Charles Robb (D) Armed Services Committee agree, "Winning the war means ground troops into Kosovo," (quote Lugar) And, quote Robb, "We need a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio of our F. But at my house in Salt Lake, my tulips and daffodils were buried, we had icicles hanging from the eaves and we had a good 18 inches of snow. Yep, she was ticked at me. However, I'm not taking full responsibility for Winter's last hurrah! No, there were plenty of others tempting fate. Anyone who wore shorts, worked in their yards, put away their snow shovels, tucked away their snow gear, or sneezed from allergies played a part, tempted fate, angered Mother Nature and brought on the cold weather. Let's face it. there were a few flurries But, she's wreaked her havoc, taken out her vengeance, and we've paid our penance and made retribution. It's now time for spring. (As you can tell, it usually doesn't and you end up reading nothing but the top of my head thoughts). This weeks topic was not a hard one, as my main gripe is dealing sonnel carriers and tanks... "I assume these "2,000 soldiers" are Far fetched? Nat really. Baseball execs are looking into deals to expand their team's worth, and what better way than to have new logos oa the uniform. With huge billboards along the outfield fences, this is the next logical step. NASCAR racers already have their can and suits decked out in gaudy ads, why not professional baseball players? It's a good way for owners to stay in business. After working for peanuts for so long, it's about time they get what they deserve. Although this is the next evolutionary step, I'm actually more excited about what's to come. Since college players are off limits for the time being, let's to see my Aunt Ellen and Uncle Elmo standing there. It was her birthday, and she wanted to come up for a visit (they live in Salt Lake) so here they were. My hubby and I took them out to dinner and a nice visit and drive after. I could tell you her age but she would probably strangle me, so I will just say I hope if I make it to her age, I am as active as she is. Thanks for making your birthday so special for me! Visiting with the family (espe- cially the grandkids) on Easter made the day so special. It is always a neat time to have family surround you. I would like to thank those who have asked about Mom's health as it hasn't been really great for awhile. She now seems to be doing much better, for which her family is all so very thankful for. Health is something many take for granted until you aren't feeling so well. Mom, you're being thought about a lot by your family and we all love you very much. Slay better, ok?
