Second grade: Julie Hewsen, first; Corey Ann Blonquist, second; Craig Louder, third, and Gavin Wilde, fourth; Gregory Piercy, Amanda Burton, Jake Adkins, Dustin Ott, and Britni Pethtel. Third grade: Lindsay Blonquist, first; Daniel Rees, second; Brooke Wilde, third, and Kollin Garfield, fourth; Darrell Dearden, Jed Casper, Stephanie Mathieson, Beth Mathias, and Cody Smith. Fourth Grade: Valerie Snyder, first; Alex Keyes, second; Terry Diston, third, and Rori Allen, fourth; Sara Hennesy, Ashley Fawcett, Jeremy Pritchard, Jared Judd, and John Fellows. i 1 ' v iW - Elementary School The elementary has been busy the past few weeks. They had their Book Fair May 8 through the 14th. This provided the students an opportunity to purchase books to read for the summer. May 4 through the 8th was Teacher Appreciation Week. Students and parents had a nice opportunity to express their appreciation few the many hours the teachers give to their students. On Thursday, May 7, tlie elementary "Country Kids presented their May Day program at the high school gymnasium. The students were dressed in their best Western attire. Each grade performed a special number. The kindergarten performed a special "Hokey Pokey. Other grades performed The Virginia Reel, square dancing, and pole dancing. The fifth grade performed their graduation dance with a maypole dance with some very fancy braiding. Earlier that same day, the stu dents practiced at the high school. . The afternoon kindergarten schedule was changed and they attended in the morning to be able to practice. The fifth grade presented their. "graduating dance" with a maypole and the various ways to wrap it. The third grade took a guided . tour of the Kamas Valley. They visited many interesting places in the valley along with the Daughters . Entries from students from the South Summit School District were winners in the Region 8. Reflections Contest Their entries will be on display at the Wilkinson Center at BYU during the PTA Convention, May Jennifer Evans is a winner in the Music Category. The evening began with a potluck dinner. Awards were presented to all chapter members who had made achievements in the FFA. Special certificates honoring all those who have been supportive of the FFA this year, including both businesses and individuals were also awarded. Special thanks to Key Bank for their support of the Chapter Proficiency Award Winners. The Honorary Chapter Farmer Award, which is reserved for those who have made tremendous contributions to the chapter was given to Lynda Kirkham, Andrea McNeil, and Randy Taylor. Announcement of new officers was saved until the end in order to keep candidates in suspense.
