Show 6A Friday, May 10, 1991 The Summit County Bee Drama Department To Present Plays South Summit Wildcats On Wednesday, May 8 and again on Wednesday, May IS, the Drama Department of South Summit High School will present their spring plays. The drama students will present four very different plays so there should be something that appeals to Sterling Scholar Chosen in Visual Arts everyone. On Wednesday, May 8, the class will presented "Juvie" and "True Blue and Trusted". "Juvie" is set in the holding cells of a police station. All of the characters are awaiting arraignment on a variety of criminal charges. The story of the play deals with, the interaction among the characters and with the memories each character has about his or her crime. "True Blue and Trusted" is a Meller Drama. good The dastardly villain sets out to blackmail the darling damsel into to represent South Summit High School in the category of Visual Arts for the Sterling Scholar competition. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bethcrs, of Kamas. Dan is a member of the National Honor Society and Senator Orrin Hatch Youth Advisory Committee. He has been on the honor roll and the high honor roll during his four years of high school, freshman class president, and Seminary class president Hie has also been a member of the football team, tennis and track teams two years, Varsity Basketball Team four years, team senior year. All Region Basketball Second Team, Tribune Team, Mr. Hustle two years at Ricks College Basketball Camp. He has been actively involved in all sports throughout his life. ed perform. Sophomore Stomp by Jessie Sutherland . On Friday, April 26,' the Sophomores held their annual Sophomore Stomp. The theme of their dance was "Love and Affection". There was a lot of hard work put into the preparation for All-Sta- te Daniel Bethers has been chosen an unwanted marriage. One can only hope that the dashing too will arrive Jn time. On Wednesday, May IS, the plays will be "Twelve Angry Men" and "Louder, I Can't Hear You". "Twelve Angry Men" deals with another aspect of the legal system. Twelve jurors are locked in a room and given the duty of determining a young man's innocence or guilt The jurors are forced to look not only at the evidence, but at their own prejudices and past "Louder, I Cant Hear You is a comedy that deals with a common problem, everyone talks but nobody listens. The audience will all be able to identify with someone in this play. Everyone is invited. The first play of the evening will begin at 7 sharp. Come and see the school's best young actors and actresses On Friday, April 19, the freshmen English classes from South Summit High School boarded a bus to travel to Kingsbury Hall on the U. of U Campus. The students were on their way to see a production called This production is "Encore! presented by a traveling theatre company based in Boston. The company presents five short plays based on short stories that the freshmen have or will study in ring. The five plays that the freshmen saw were "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", "Fall of The House of Usher, "The Mouse, "The Ransom of Red Chief", and "The Most Dangerous Game". Park City Preparing For The teams are judged on both a legal and a point basis. Our team, if they would have accepted die forfeit, would have made it into the finals with one point. They did compete and won both the legal and the points 188 to 167 but did not make it into the finals. All members of the Mock Trial Team competed excellently. The members are Kathrine Hansen, Clay Prince, Taigon Worthen, Mathew World Cup Mountain Biking Action Registration forms are now available for the 1991 Park City Motherlode Cycling Festival, part of the Grundig World Cup, July 27 and 28. Park City, along with Traverse City, MI and Mammoth Lakes, CA, is me of the three cities hosting a World Cup race during the 1991 NORBA National Championship Series. The series is comprised of seven race events in the United States. The series, which determines the national champions in mountain biking, runs from late April through early September. About SO international racers from 13 countries will be in Park City for the World Cup races. The Park City event features an s, uphill and downhill race, Scot y a race, a bike toss, a widowmaker hill climb, observed trials demonstration, and a Off-Ro- Annual FFA Banquet Held by Michelle Prescott On Wednesday, April 24, the South Summit FFA Chapter held their annual awards banquet. Members, along with their parents, gathered to receive higher degrees in the FFA. The awards given were the Greenhand degree, Chapter Farmer degree. State Fanner decree, and recognition was given to Phil Clegg, who will be receiving the American Farmer degree at the national Convention this coming November. The Star Greenhand Award was presented to Mark Ure;' the Star Chapter Farmer to Kimberlee Peterson, and the Star State Farmer was given to Stacy Leavitt at the State Convention. Special recognition was also given to Joe Mueller and Rob Isakson for their extra effort in supporting the FFA. They were made Honorary Chapter Farmers. The Chapter would once again like to thank them for all of their support After enjoying banana splits and watching "A Year in Review slide presentation, the new officers for next year were installed. Participates in Jazz Concert Research.wprks i by Ambre ReMillard The South Summit Jazz Band participated in a Jazz Concert on April 24 at North Summit High School. Both jazz bands from North and South Summit played, along with Skyline High School and the jazz band from the College of Eastern Utah. After all the bands had played, sandwiches were served to all participants, The concert provided the chance for band members to gain experience and to get to know band members from other schools. The concert was a lot of fun for all involved. 9 Boating and Camping Season Underavay The ice has left Bear Lake and of the campgrounds are open, signaling a new spring season at Bear Lake State Park.
