Show Utah w A57 Salt Association rra aat 5M South Lake City, Utah 4111 Ward adopts Loasian family The Rhodes Valley Ward of the Kamas Stake has a Loasian family that they have adopted into their care. Under the help of Mr. Bob O'Driscoll who is the activity chairman, the Ward was able to get this special family here in the valley. They arrived here straight from a camp in Bangkok and were picked up at the SLC Airport by Bob and Jan O Driscoll January 18. 1979. This little family consists of the father Ling Yang, who is 26 years his wife Mia, 24, Ling Yang's sister Joya. 17 and her old baby Kia. They arc living in one of the homes on the Harvey Fitzgerald farm and Ling Yang works for the Blazzards. We'd all like to welcome them into this area and let them know that we arc glad to have them here. of age, They arc starting to learn the English language. While still in Laos, Ling started his study of English and can now speak many words. He in turn is teaching his wile Mia and sister Joya. Ling is now in a 2nd grade reader and doing well. They have a dictionary and so are able to exchange words and communicate some. When Mr. Yang got his first pay check and was taken to the Kamas State Bank to get it changed and start a checking account, he thought he was being cheated. In Laos, they keep all their money in a box under their beds. The family is doing very well. The adopted Loasion family consists of Ling Yang, Mia, Joya and Kia.
