Counties Play Small Role AGRICULTURE AUCTION in Production Both Summit and Morgan counties play a very small role in the production of waterfowl. Very few, if any geese are produced in either county. Green wing teal and mallards are the two ducks that lead in production of young ducks. Both counties have excellent areas for these ducks to reproduce. Some of the most Important production areas are the stock ponds and beaver ponds that have an ample amount of grass and brush close to the water source. This not only provides a good amount of cover for the nest but also a good food area for young ducklings. Although fencing of spring and seeps is time consuming and expensive, the added benefit of keeping livestock from stomping out these water sources are valueless during the dry summer Livestock Antique Machinery Farm Commodities Saturday, October 9 Hoytsville Ball Park Sponsored by Hoytsville Ward for Building Fund Inexpensive Meal 12 Noon a Auction Begins at 1 p.m. Uam srsv lanewa RUBvn -- by design, with new roof construction and formed headlining which allow a little more clearance lor heads, hats and hairdos . Parmley, president of the Utah Lung lung, heart, and diabetes victims and people 65 and older, in Utah, to protect 'themselves against the flu this season by following national Immunization recommendations. Mrs. Parmley said The national flu immunization program is endorsed by the Utah Lung Association. We feel, however, that persons at high risk, because of illness and age, may be confused by the recommendation that they(shoutd receive two shots. This flu season, as in previous years, people who suffer from emphysema, bronchitis and asthma, are urged to get protection early because they are in the high risk category. . The Utah Lung Association, she noted, and its medical section, the Intermountain Thoracic Society, encourage these patients to immunize against influenza every year. "This year we strongly advise people in this group to get two shots," the volunteer leader added. One shot contains a bivalent vaccine that will protect against the ANcw Jersey, or swine flu virus, and the AVictoria or already existing Hong Kong variety. A second shot, the monovalent B, is an added Fish vironmental Quality Act, The act provides that when a major action affects the environmental quality; an environmental Impact statement (EB) must be filed. The suit was never settled in court, but the Fish and Wildlife Service agreed to write an Impact statement so the waterfowl season could open. These though areas, small, provide a very valuable area for small game to feed and water. With the need for good rangeland water conservation the production of waterfowl will continue to increase and will still play a small but colorful role in this area. In the fall a somewhat, larger population of water-fomoves into the area. Geese moving south out of Rich County and Southwest Wyoming move onto Echo and Rockports lakes for a short period before they continue moving south. During the foil hunting season the best method of success has been jump shooting along the Weber River and those drainages along the Weber. Here again the majority of ducks in the hunters bag has been the mallard. Jump shooting picks up the middle of December when the marshes along the GreatSalt Lake freeze and the ducks move upstream to the open rivers and warm spring Thursday, September SO, A j. |
