"t'r X''r . 4'- - Number 22 Bryant Stevens moves forward Esonas put on a fine half time show t Community Pride Expressed The week of November 10 through IS was an exciting one for all of North Summits studentbody alumni and fans as they prepared for the State Football Finals held Friday, November 15, at the University of Utahs Bob Rice Stadium. Both the school and the town was full of gold and purple signs, posters, pins, banners; you name it, we had itl Thursday night a pep rally was held at the auditorium with the main attraction being a group of 'Ladder Yells" resulting in Mike Judd, Studentbody President, Doug Garfield, Junior High Studentbody President and Aloma Richins Alumni Vice President receiving a "Pie in the Face." The Alumni Association presented each member of the football team, the coaches andthe cheerleaders with metallic gold footballs for good luck. The team then presented the drill team and cheerleaders with Gold and Purple corsages. Coach "Sam" Blonquist spoke saying how proud he was nf the foam and irregardless of the outcome of Fridays game, he was proud of the boys and their record. Friday morning the band, drill team and other loyal fans met at the "Huddle" to see their team off. Excitement and hyper-tensihad to be the word for the day as the Highway Patrol escorted the team out of town. on Rice Stadium was fuU of North Summit fans, with 700 gold helium balloons (compliments of the Alumni Assoc.) setting off their section for all the world to see. Although both team and community had their hearts set on the gold trophy, the team Just couldnt quite put it together. , Coach "Sam said the boys worked their hearts out, but for some reason nothing went our way. The community is proud of our young peoples athletic ability and the ability of the coaches to get such fine performances out of them year after year. We congratulate the North Summit 1974 Football Team on a fantastic season and a great record. it' defeat but the roar from i the crowd was: We love our team.' It was a ' i |
