President Marchant introduced a film Meet the Mormons a BYU production that is to be used for missionary purposes throughout the church. The film which was shown by Orvil Minchey stressed the importance that the LDS Church places on families and individuals the world over. It beautifully explained the basic beliefs ami organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints and concluded with stirring testimonies of church members from throughout the world. Following the film, President Peterson addressed those in attendance on the subject, How we can best utilize this film to touch the lives of the less-activ- e those present that there are always many things to be thankful for and we should develop the capacity to appreciate the blessings we receive. During his remarks, Elder Hanks emphasized once again that in the structure of the Church, the organization is not the primary thing, the individual is, and that the organization of the Church is simply a way of getting the Gospel to the individual and the family. Elder Hank's comments on the film gave interesting highlights and insights as to the backgrounds of some of the people in the film. He referred to the Doctrine and Covenants Sec. 20 where it says the Lord God commands every member of the Church to be a missionary. And then he went on to say that with a spirit of warmth and friendliness the gospel can be taught and i I, I shared. He told of Enos and Lehi, Book of Mormon prophets, who upon seeing the goodness of the fruits of the gospel had a natural desire to share the gospel with others. He compared this desire to prese- situations, explain- nt-day ing that many times people feel backward and ill equipped to teach the gospel. By giving an illustration of what he had told a friend to teach one who needed the Gospel, Elder Hanks explained about the LDS belief in a premortal existence where intelligences that have always existed became literal spirit children of God the Father.
