Show SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS PAGE A4 East Canyon-Echo Road Race — Sports-am.com APRIL 24, 2015 Peace House invites community to lunch The greater Wasatch Back community is invited to the annual Peace House Spring Luncheon on Wednesday, May 6, in the St. Mary's Catholic Church social hall. Mingling and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. and a program unveiling the future Peace House Community Campus begins at noon. A portion of the program will be dedicated to a celebration of Peace House's 20th anniversary. Peace House began as the Domestic Peace Task Force during the early 1990s after the public murder of a woman by her estranged husband in a Park City parking lot. In 1995 the Peace House shelter was opened to families fleeing domestic abuse. Always free to the community, the Spring Luncheon is sponsored by the generosity of local businesses, making it possible for 100 percent of all gifts to Peace House the day of the luncheon to support ongoing shelter operating expenses, like the 24 / 7 Helpline, groceries and utilities. At last year's luncheon $20,000 was raised to support the Outreach Program. This year the organization hopes to raise funds to meet shelter needs. "With this being our 20th year, we are honoring our past and present and sharing our dreams for the future," said Jane Patten, executive director. "Our new campus is in the early planning stage and we are excited to share an overview with the community that has been so much a part of our growth." Space is limited. Reservations will be accepted through Wednesday, April 29. To reserve a seat at the community table, please RSVP by emailing events@peacehouse.org or calling 435-6584739, extension 104. Please type "Spring Luncheon" in the subject line of your email. Through outreach, shelter and support services, Peace House empowers victims to break the cycle of domestic violence in their lives and the lives of their children. Peace House also reaches out to individuals and groups within the Summit / Wasatch County service area through prevention education programs.
