Students were able to go to leadership workshops, listen to keynote speakers, and most importantly have fun. A few of our members competed in multiple events at State Convention. Kassidy Jones competed in all rounds of the Creed Speaking Contest and won in the final round. She will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to represent Utah in the Creed Speaking Contest. Coree Jacobson made it to the final round in the Job Interview competition where she placed third overall in the state. Ethan Brown and Emily Donaldson competed in the Young Farmer and Rancher's Discussion Meet, and Daniel Stephens competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking event. The North Summit FFA Chapter also received many awards on stage including the Superior Chapter Award, the Five Star Chapter Award, and the Best FFA Chapter in the Dairy Cattle Exhibit held at the State Fair. Two of our seniors, Carmela Rodriguez and Koleman DuCharme, received their state degrees, and Ethan Brown received the Proficiency Award in Dairy Production Placement. Koleman DuCharme also received the State State award, which is Hooray! The North Summit 100 Year History Books have arrived We are so very excited they are amazing and beautiful!!! Those who have prepaid for your books, may pick them up at the North Summit District Office on the following dates: Monday, March 23, 12:00 Noon to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, March 24, 12 Noon to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, March 25, 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a FEW extra books available, if you did not order or if you want any more copies. However, they will go quickly. You may also purchase a book at any time from Julie at the District Office as long as they last. Thank you for your wonderful support during the 100 Year Celebration of North Summit. only given to 16 students across the state. Students who placed and received awards are:Coree Jacobson- Job Interview; Maren Boyer- Superior Chapter; Koleman Ducharme- Star State Award; Carmela Rodrigues- State Degree; Kassidy Jones- Creed Speaking. Congratulations to all who competed and received awards and degrees! The North Summit FFA members represented the chapter well at the 2015 Utah FFA Association State Convention. South Summit FFA students attend Utah State Convention at Richfield Woolstenhulme, and Skyler McCormick. Kassidee Black competed in the Chapter Display contest and placed 2nd. Desmyn Woolstenhulme was a finalist in the Job Interview Competition. Gracie Williams and Cassidy Hortin competed in the Agriscience Fair. Both young ladies placed 2nd in their divisions. Kiersten Hancock served on the Sunday H59 L34 Mostly Sunny Monday H65 L37 Partly Cloudy Tuesday H53 L28 Showers Nominating Committee and helped select next year's State FFA Officers. Kyler Dick received 3rd runner up in the Star State Greenhand in Placement Category. Chris Rakisits won the Outdoor Recreation Proficiency Award. Six members received their State FFA Degree, which is the highest degree a member can earn at the state level. JR Peacock, Ashley Keyes, Kiersten Hancock, Kassidee Black, Porter Fitzgerald and Cole Sweat were the 2015 recipients. South Summit was recognized as a Five-Star Chapter, and received the Superior Chapter Award. Congratulations to all who participated. Chapter from all over the state gathered to listen to motivational speakers, attend workshops, compete and receive awards. Member attending were: Kiersten Hancock, Kassidee Black, Ashley Keyes, Desmyn Wool- stenhulme, Melissa Maisey, Tylie Winterton, Hanna Hatch, Kiersten Rakisits, Sierra Wagner, Autumn Tuttle, Cassidy Hortin, Gracie Williams, Tate Graham, Porter Fitzgerald, Quinn Gillett, JR Peacock, Porter Fox, Trey Hatch, Canyon Frantz, Jace Atkinson, Broughton Flygare, Paden On Thursday March 12 the Kamas Valley Lion's Club made a generous $1,000 donation to Summit Community Power Works. The club voted to use the funds to purchase LED light bulbs for Summit County residents in need The members of the Lions Club are installing the bulbs for the residents as an act of service.
