It has been many years since this opportunity has been available, since the 1940's, but with the price of gas still up - it will be a welcome service for many! The Park City / Summit County Transit will begin this service in October as they join with the Utah Transit Authority, and the goal is to cut down traffic pollution in Summit County. The fares are not yet determined and set, but it is estimated that for $11 it still may be a deal for a round trip ticket - and monthly rates are being discussed at this time trying to keep it under $250 per month. One-way tickets will be available for an estimated $5.50. The more people that use the bus convenience the better the rates. Deadline for receiving applications is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20,2011. County requests flood damage information from residents, and requires permits for some restoration work. Following recent flooding from the Weber River, Summit County is focused on cleanup and restoration of affected areas. As a part of this phase, Summit County is asking residents who have sustained structural damage to their homes or properties to report the damage by either reporting online or by contacting Maren Geary at Summit County Public Works, (435) 336-3970. The County may qualify for federal disaster assistance, and accurate documentation of information regarding flood damage is critical for the County to seek this federal support. Such qualification may make financial assistance possible for Summit County residential and business properties damaged by the flooding. Summit County Emergency Management is working to identify private property damage caused by flooding from spring and early summer, 2011. The purpose of this assessment is to identify safety concerns and determine if Summit County and the affected cities within Summit County qualify for federal assistance. The dead- line to collect the information is Friday July 29, 2011. Summit County residents who sustained property damage to their homes or businesses and have not yet reported their information to authorities are asked to complete the damage survey form available on line by going to www.summitcounty.org . Residents who are unable to complete the form online or have questions can call ((435) 336-3970 beginning Friday, July 29, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to provide the information to call takers. County and city building inspectors will provide follow-up inspections of all damage reports. Reporting of the property damage does not automatically qualify residents or business owners for reimbursement of damages or individual government assistance programs. Property owners who have had non-structural damage to their property (such as flooded yards or loss of river bank) must apply to the County for a floodplain development permit prior to making any improvements. In addition, some channel work will require a federal permit. These permit requests will be reviewed and issued by the County Engineer office. The request form can be found online at the Summit County website at www.summitcounty.org. On the site, go to the "Department" pulldown menu, and then to Engineering. Under "Printable Forms" is a's form for the floodplain development application. If you have questions regarding this form, please contact Kent Wilkerson at (435) 336-3294. In addition to this information, it is noted that two NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service) grants were awarded to Summit County, one for "Design" and one for "Implementation" of rivers and river beds. These grants were designed to be able to hire services which would help move debris and help protect banks without impacting other's property. "The work was designed to carefilly reinforce the banks, and in some places force water towards the middle of the river rather than out of the banks, helping to relieve some of the flooding situations", stated Kevin Callahan, Public Works Director. The changes should not impact anyone else's property nor change the course of the rivers. person that was loved by all. "He was a negotiator," his son said. "He loved to negotiate with everyone - and could talk anyone into doing what he needed them to do whether it was with purchasing items for his business he ran, or talking them into doing something else and he loved Henefer! But most of all - he loved his family!" It was a "norm" to always see both Larry and Kay to- gether - they were always together. They fulfilled a mission together for the LDS Church in 2003-2004 in the Missouri Independence Mission. They worked together in the Ogden LDS Temple - and he was always escorting Kay whenever they were together! Larry will be dearly missed, and to his family - an entire community loved your father!
