As MVP of the 1971-72 Eastern Region Championship team, Pace proved to be one of the most talented players ever to wear a uniform for the Sasquatch. Ross possessed the ball handling skills of a guard, and the jumping ability and power of a forward. He was completely without fear, could score both inside and out, and was one of the most rugged 6'3" rebounders in the state. Pace still ranks near the top of the record books in single game scoring (35 points), single season rebounds (222), and single season scoring (430). Ross holds L.— M-. • 1 . Basketball team members, coaches and athletic directors from the college had a chance to meet informally, reminisce, and get reacquainted at the home of Coach Maurice Ray the following morning. New flag flies at Francis Town Hall CHERYL OVARD SCN Editors The evening ceremony began with the Star Spangled Banner played by Daniel Lewis, with his rendition on the trumpet. Flag Day, June 14, was celebrated at Francis with an Official Flag Ceremony performed by members of Sugar House District 1VFW 3586 Ben G Ruso, with Post Commander Elmer R Inman acting as Master of Ceremonies. Other members participating were Roy Kunzi, Kelly Binkerd, and Bob Steele. "Taps" was played by Bob Steele following the Star Spangled Banner, and the tattered United States Flag was lowered, with the new flag was immediately put in its place and raised to take the spotlight at the top of the Francis Town flag pole. Commander Inman read the purpose of the history of the Flag, and then while the retired U.S. Flag was folded, each was explained as to its representation. ("The meaning of the thirteen folds" can be found elsewhere in this issue.) The old U.S. Flag will be taken to the Boy Scouts who will take care of the retirement of it in a separate ceremony. Mayor Lee Snelgrove is the Scoutmaster of the Scouts who will do this honor. Following the ceremony it was announced that the new Francis Town Flag was donated by the Grames family. Mickey and Bob Grames have two sons still serving actively in the service — Sgt. Jason Grames and Major Christopher Adams. They are both "jumpers" — having served in Iraq and Adams soon to return to Afghanistan. Many photos were placed for all to view on a table showing those who served in the Armed Forces, and several Veterans were present to witness the ceremony. The program and ceremony was followed by visitors enjoying a potluck dinner provided by those attending.
