The SCTP is a character development program for youth grades K to 12 that instills values like good sportsmanship, responsibility, team cohesiveness, positive attitude, good citizenship, safe and responsible gun handling and shotgun proficiency while at the same time introducing youth to the shotgun shooting sports and the various competitive venues available. The Heber Valley Trap and Skeet Club formed their first SCTP Team in 2007. Under Head Coach, Wendy Mair and Assistant Coach, Jayson Knight, the program has introduced over fifty youth to the shooting sports and has retained several young shooters who have continued to participate each year since they began with the team, including Kaylee Phillips (4th year), Connor Williams (3rd year), Clay Glazier (3rd year), Jake Cowan (2nd year), Austin Earnshaw (3rd year), Hunter Knight (3rd year), Carson Richins (3rd year), Mason Dixon (3rd year), Riley Hilton (2nd year) and Cory Simpson (2nd year). All of these shooters have made continual progress in their shooting proficiency and continue to evolve as solid trap shooters and extraordinary community members. New to the team this year are Kolten Post and Brayden Sorensen. The Team would like to thank its original sponsor, Les Schwab Tire Center in Heber, for their continued annual sponsorship of the team. This sponsorship enables the team to compete at the State SCTP Championship each year. Other team supporters include Peak Karate, Days Market, Greg Allen & Sons Excavating and other local businesses who have supported the team over the past five years. The Team would also like to thank all the parents for their support and willingness to help out wherever needed. A special thank you to LuWanna Philips and Trudy Glazier for planning and coordinating the team's fundraiser event. The team also appreciates the Heber Valley Trap & Skeet Board of Directors for their continued support of this program, making the facilities available for practices and team events. A special thanks goes to Jeff Lloyd, Club President, and board member Elizabeth Williams for being willing to open the club and help out at weekly practices. The 5th Annual Team Fundraiser and Celebration Day will be held on Monday, June 13 at the Heber Valley Trap and Skeet Club from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for all the team members and their families. There will be a 25 target fundraiser round for the team members, a potluck barbeque and shooting games for everyone. Prizes will be given to team members for scores, fundraising efforts and other qualities they have demonstrated this season at an awards ceremony at the end of the evening. If you would like to support this program and help ensure its continuation, please donate a prize to our fundraiser event or make a cash donation to the team by contacting Wendy Mair (435) 671-1171) or Jayson Knight (801) 404-1947). The other states represented are California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Nevada and of course - Utah. Most of the girls locally have played together since grade school, and are best friends. There are many opportunities through this National Invitational organization known as Avalanche Invitational, and on Saturday there were many talent scouts meeting senior girls and interviewing them for prospective college and professional soccer teams. Park City, Summit County, is proud to be able to host these athletes and their families. The ability to be able to host these teams at the Avalanche Invitational is the "culmination of many hours of work and dedication from the Avalance Soccer Club along with Park City Municipal."
