Show OBITUARIES JUNE 3, 2011 PAGE B5 SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS Donna Jean Pace Marchant Donna Jean Pace Marchant, age 79, of Peoa, peacefully returned to her heavenly home May 30, 2011, from Oakley. Born Feb. 22, 1932, in Wanship, to Neta Gibbons Pace and Eugene Pace. Married Glen C Marchant, June 25, 1952, Salt Lake LDS Temple. They built a home in Peoa, Howard Blaine Gines Howard Blaine Gines, 68, passed away on May 31, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8, 1943 in American Fork, the son of Cerel and Lilly May (Mitchell) Gines. He served his country in the United States Army. On June 14, 1963, he married Shawna McAffee in Woodland, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized on January 30, 1981 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. where they raised 4 children on their farm with dairy and beef cattle. Mom and dad were always together. She has missed him since his death in 1985. Mom loved playing the accordion, quilting and flowers. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and afghans. She worked a variety of jobs to help support the family. "Gram" loved visits from her 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who always found the "treat drawer" full. Survivors include children, Maxine (Stewart) Mair; Dennis (Alen) Marchant; Mineta (Kevin) Wilde; Lonnie (Mariann) Marchant; sister, Patsy Simister; and brother, D.A. Pace. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 4, at 11:30 a.m., in the Peoa LDS Church. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 10:00. Interment in the Peoa Cemetery. Howard loved horses and was a member of the Kamas / Heber chariot Association and the Kamas Valley Riding Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and more than anything spending time with family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shawna, of Kamas; his daughter, Shana Jai (Brian) Fryer, of Francis; his grandchildren: K.C. Lane Fryer, Shaneal Jordan Fryer, and Lilly Jai Fryer, all of Francis, and his adopted children TeRell and Stormie McAffee. Also his brother, Doug (Betty) Gines and Sister, Helen (Ray) Jones, both of Kamas. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and Billie, and a sister Bonnie. Funeral service will be on Monday. June 6, at 11 a.m.. in the Kamas LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call on Sunday evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Brewer, 89, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Echo, Utah, a son of Ernest H. and Julia Ann Brewer. Dad graduated from North Summit High School in 1941. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad prior to enlistment in the Navy where he flew over a million miles and was a member of the Blue Raiders during Lois Jean Rassmusen Wolfe Greene Lois Jean Rassmusen Wolfe Greene, age 85, passed away from natural causes on May 7, 2011, in St. George, Utah. She was born in Gogorza, Utah, otherwise known to many as the Jeremy Ranch area on March 1, 1926. Lois was the daughter of Osmer and Stella Robison Rassmusen. After Osmer passed away in 1929, Stella married his paternal-twin brother, Osmond. Osmond was known as "daddy" by the children and later as "Grandpa-Shorty" to their grandchildren, named because he was a few inches shorter than Osmer and was still about 6 feet tall. Lois attended elementary, Jr. high, and later graduated with honors from a high school in Park City, Utah. She then spent a semester at the University of Utah. At age 19, Lois married Lester Wolfe and immediately moved to Washington D.C. After her divorce from Lester, she married Roy Lennie Greene in Mt. Rainer, Maryland, and they were later sealed in the Washington D.C. LDS Temple. She retired from National Geographic Magazine after 25 years, where she received mail from World leaders and then distributed it for membership and even such people as Jane Goodall, Dr. Leaky and the Dali Lama. Singing was a great passion in her life, Lois was well-known for her music and voice. In her youth, she traveled to Salt Lake City and took voice lessons from Richard Condie, director of the Tabernacle Choir at the time. She sang with the National Folk Festival in early 1960s. Besides music, Lois had a passion for history and collected many historical items from the Revolutionary and Civil War periods. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several callings and as a Temple worker. Laurel married Ruby Lance (deceased), the mother of his daughter Elaine Brewer / Crismon Waters (deceased), on September 23, 1943. He married Florence Elizabeth Smith on Oct. 10, 1947. Their children are Laurel Joseph Brewer (Cindy) and Pearl Ann Gibson (Dave). They traveled with the Navy and lived in several locations from Guam to Maryland. She passed away June 11, 1966. On Aug. 2, 1968, he married Irene Nielsen Boeslund and welcomed Sharlene J. Green (Russell), Jennie Knickerbocker and Harry Knicker- bocker to his family. They had 42 wonderful years together riding their motorcycle, playing bingo and working on their farm. Laurel is survived by his son, daughter, stepdaughters and stepson, as well as 20 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Ella, Adelia, Lois, Noreen, and two brothers, Aldo and Hamilton. The family would like to thank Crestwood, George Wahlen Veterans Home and Hospice for Utah for their care and compassion. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 2, Henefer Ward Chapel on Main Street in Henefer. Interment in the South Morgan Cemetery with military honors. She frequented the National Archives in Washington D.C. and the Library of Congress in her research in Genealogy. In her middle-years she treated herself to a trip to Europe, which fulfilled a lifetime dream. For a girl born in the mountains of Utah, she took the tools she received from her kin and magnified them. She served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Washington area in the late 1990's up to 2002. She did language extraction for genealogy, loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, counted on the Lord, and trusted his guidance in her challenges. In 2002, she moved to Hurricane from College Park, Maryland and spent the rest of her life with her son Marc and daughter Michelle Mathisen, her husband, Chris Mathisen and her grandchildren in close proximity, and we are thankful for the time spent with her in her final years. Keep in mind, that through all her efforts, she never drove a car in her life. Many of Lois' accomplishments had a great impact on everything and her influence will live on. Her children appreciate their mother and grandmother for instilling in them diversity and what it has to offer. She even took her children to see the Mona Lisa when it came to the National Gallery of Art, and even took them to a presidential inauguration in the freezing January cold, Cool! Lois shared her childhood with her brother, Craig Rassmusen of Park City deceased, Jackie Mason of Heber City deceased, Clara Rassmusen of Eggleston Troy, Montana deceased, and Sharon Rassmusen Womac, lively living in Alaska, who we thank for being here at this time and her sacrifice is appreciated. Her daughter, Kathleen from Piedmont, California, is appreciated for her support while here with her mother, Sharon. She is survived by her children, Marc Wolfe of Nebraska, Craig Wolfe of Maryland, Michelle Mathisen of Utah and our brother Lance Wolfe, who is deceased; daughters-in-law, Diane Middleton-Wolfe, Mary King-Wolfe, and Debbie Stillwell-Wolfe. She had 12 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren from Alaska, Maryland, West Virginia, Kansas, Texas and Utah. There was a private family gathering in Utah. Small family services will be held in Maryland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
