Show SENIOR & HEALTH NEWS PAGE A6 Hotline for H1 N1 Vaccine clinic times and information Senior Citizens BY LOUISE WALLACE What was the weather like on Ground Hogs day? It doesn't really matter what the little varmint sees or does because we all know spring will be here about six weeks from now. In the meantime, we need the snow so we might as well enjoy it and give thanks for the sunshine that we have a little bit most every day. We had a pleasant week which ended January. Now we only have eleven month's until it is New Years again. This has been Gwen Woolstenhulme's first month for conducting and she is already an old hand at it. Margie and Rulon Judd, our newest members, were in the spotlight (I'm not supposed to call it the hot-seat anymore) this week. They not only gave us a nice background of their lives but they ended with singing a duet that was truly enjoyable. We had 14 members at the band practice. They are happy to have Margie and Rulon joining in. Also Bonnie Jean Johnson has been singing with them and she also plays the piano. This Wednesday, her husband Stewart added his voice to the singing group. Wouldn't surprise me one bit, if they aren't planning a concert soon. Anita Lewis from the county office was with us at Friday's board meeting. She brought the 2010 budget for our club and answered our questions concerning it. She came back for lunch and brought the new County Manager, Bob Jasper with her. It was nice to meet him, just hope for your sake and for mine, he will be able to do the job very well. Did you watch the State of the Union Address by President Barack Obama on TV? He has the toughest job of any I know of. Wouldn't it be great if both the Democratic party and the Republican party members would work together? Maybe if they would only remember they are supposed to serve all the people of the country, not just the one in their party and from their state, then things that need to get done, would get done. Pray that it happens. There was an article in the last Summit County News about the ladies that quilt. LuGene Jones reported at our board meeting that they have the 69th one on the frames now. That is a lot of comfort they spread around. We are really proud of them and they should be too. They invite anyone who wishes to help to join them. Marjorie Smith has been sick and has been staying with her daughters in Evanston. She and her daughter, Linda Eugsten was with us Friday. She was just in Coalville for the day, to get her hair done by Georgia Scates and to have lunch with us. Then it was back to her daughters places until she gets her strength back and they feel she is able to take care of herself again. For now, she is content to be waited on but hates giving up her independence. That is a hard decision to make but it takes a wise person to know when it has to happen. It's something we all may have to face some day. We send our sympathies to Lucile Ball on the death of her son, Jay Ball. His memorial services will be at the mortuary Saturday, Feb. 6 with burial next to his father. Louise Judd is in charge of February. The new flu shots will be given at the Center this Wednesday, Feb. 3. Our shopping trip is on the 4th. The valentine's dinner is on the 10th and then we will be entertained by Lindsay and James who performed in the production of "South Pacific”. Transportation and a free lunch on Feb. 11 for us to attend Senior Day at the Legislature. Please sign up if you wish to go. February's county activity is to visit the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum in Salt Lake City with lunch at the Lion House on Feb. 23. Foot service is on the 24th, and Kathy Wilde will do a health check. Board meeting on the 26th, and that sounds like we will have a busy month. See you all next week.
