She was born on Dec. 16, 1932, in Daniels, Wasatch County. Her goodly parents were Wilbur Franklin McKenzie and Minnie Jeanette Nelson McKenzie. She was the third child of a family of five children. She attended schools in Daniels, Charleston and Heber City, graduating from Wasatch High School in May 1951. On Oct. 6, 1954, she married Doyle P. Simmons in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a resident of Francis, Summit County, from the time of marriage to present. She worked at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield Prior to marriage and at the Heber Valley Care Center for 23 years as an LPN. She also worked as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for six years. She was forced to retire due to health problems. She was a member of the Francis DUP. Mary Jean served in many church callings; she was a Relief Society Teacher from time of marriage to the present time. Survivors include her most wonderful husband, Doyle P. Simmons; four sons, Michael (Kay), Mark, Keith (Marsha), Blaine (Ramona); two daughters, Karma (Dennis) Ricks, Sandra (Dell Ray) Priest. 43 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Billie (Kent) Christensen; brother-in-law, Dale (Loella) Simmons; sister, Rita (Elmer deceased) Andreason. She is preceded in death by son, Stanley Gene Simmons; grandchildren, John Curtis Priest, and Angela Marie Priest; parents and in-laws (Albert and Nettie Simmons); brother, Dan and sister-in-law Jeanine McKenzie; sister, Anita (Donald) O’Driscoll, and sister, Hazel (Bob) Smith. Special thanks to Alpine Hospice and Staff, especially Vicky, Marcane, Kathy, and Lynn. Also, special thanks to Kamas Health Center and staff, especially Dr. Lisa M. Saturnino, and Tracy Daniels. Funeral Services were held Thursday, April 16, at the Francis LDS Church. Interment was in the Francis Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.
