Starting at 2 p.m. is the Summit County Rodeo Queen Young Adults Tri-Regio- nal Festival Set LDS youth are meeting in Coalville June 14 and 15, for a Young Adults Festival. Regions involved are Coalville, Provo North Following the 2 p.m. judging session, a supper will be served to the contestants and judges. The final judging in Horsemanship will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. An added attraction to the yearly contest will be Jack- contest. To date a total of 13 girls have entered the contest this year. are: Karrie They Blon-qui- st, Diane Meyers, Dana Snyder, Donna Atkinson, Julie Bushell, Ruth Potter, Kayleen Jones, Marla Boyer, Denise Hobson, Larita Staley, Lori Stephens, Deanne Vernon and Diane Dillree. Contestants will be judged on Personality and pot Barrel Racing. Parley Brown of Hoytsville, recently returned from an assignment serving as an interpreter and pilot escort on the first flight by the Peoples Republic of China to the United States. Captain Brown, who is a C- 5 pilot at Travis, Joined the Chinese crew in Anchorage, Alaska, and flew with them to Kennedy Airport, New York. They spent a day in New York before returning to China via Anchorage and Tokyo where Captain Brown departed the flight While in New York, Captain Brown was invited to dinner at the Headquarters of the .Chinese United Na- tions delegation where he met and dinecK with Chinese United Nations officials and members of the Chinese crew. Cn the flight, he assisted the crew with radio communications and enroute procedures. They were flying a e of several ,07 Bin1 recently purchased from Boeing. After leaving the crew in Tokyo, Captain Brown went to Washington, D.C. For sev- eral days where he briefed Air Force, State Depart- ment and Federal Aviation Administration officials. He then was asked to stop at Scott AFB, HI., where he briefed Gen. Paul K. Carl- - llamas Lions Host Convention KAMA- S- The Kamas Valley Lions together with the Heber City Lions are hosting the State Convention in Heber June 13, 14 and 15. Approximat ely 3,000 Lions from all overtheState are expected to attend the meet. There will be lectures, workshops and question and answer periods. Plan to s:ew Utah and Weber counties. Friday evening the youth will be addressed by a General Authority and a director of the Institute at Weber State College. They will have a dance afterwards. A gigantic slumber party follows. The girls' will use the stake center and the boys will use the Henefer cultural hall. The highlight of Saturday will be a testimony meeting, followed ton, commander of the Military Airlift Command and his staff. Captain Brown indicated the crew were very open and friendly, which allowed him to have some very interesting discussions with them. He learned Chinese as a missionary for 30 months in Taiwan, Republic of China. He later majored in Chinese at Brigham Young Univer- sity. When asked how he enjoyed this assignment, Captain Brown replied, "This has been one of the most interesting opportunities of my career." Captain Brown was selectprior to this assignment as the Outstanding Junior Officer of the Quarter at Travis Air Force Base. In presenting this award Col. Harry A. Morris, 60th Miled itary Airlift Wing Commander, cited the outstanding contribution Captain Brown has made in the area of aircrew training and his activities in local church and community affairs. Captain Brown is married to the former Laurie Mann from Danvers, Mass. They have three daughters. by Salt Lake Men Sustain Injuries In Auto Mishap Two Salt Lake men were accident injured in a one-c- ar on recently. David O. Tanner, 22, 501 So. 2700 East, Salt Lake City Sunwas driving east on 80 1-- 80 day. officers stated Tanner apparently dozed and the vehicle started to leave the roadway. Four Residents Graduate Four Summit County res- idents will graduate from Utah Technical College at Salt Lake at commencement rites Friday, June 7. They are Cleo Birch, Steven B. Richins and Reeda F. Warner, all Coalville, and Glen C. Parker, Kamas. They will be among 732 graduates from degree, diploma and certificate pro grams being honored at commencement rites at 7:30p.m. in the Cottonwood High School Auditorium, 5715 So. 1300 East in Salt Lake City. Commencement speaker will be Neal A. Maxwell, an Assistant to the Council of Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, and the Churchs commissioner of education.
