During this period the Commissioners urge all County citizens to actively participate by cleaning up their property ers have declared June where necessary. The County will assist in hauling away, junked cars, appliances and other bulky items if individuals cannot transport them to the nearest landfill or refuse dump themselves. Residents are urged to please contact either the Beautification and leave Chairman in their area or call the County at 336-23their name and address if assistance is needed in disposing of 34 large items. Summits block wasoriginat- - Miss Preece was chosen as er first attendant to Christi who went on to become Miss Utah State Fair. Christi will enter the Miss Utah contest under that title. Peggy assumed the Miss Summit County title at that time. She was also named Miss Congeniality. Sho-walt- These girls feel a special thanks should go to Aloma Rich-i- ns of Coalville who heads the Miss Summit County contest each year. Many hours and much hard work is spent in organizing this contest and in making it a memorable event for the girls who enter. Peggy Jean Preece, daughter of Jack Preece and Dorothy Preece, will be Summit Countys representative to the Miss Utah Contest which will be televised Saturday, June 9, at 8 p.m. Peggy, formerly of Oakley and now living in Kamas will perform an original songfor her talent, Janiel Brown will be her accompanist. She is currently employed by Demonstration Set demonstration of safety emergency procedures will highlight the meetingof the Park City Ward Relief Society at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12. Mr. Carl Becroft, Safety Instructor for the Bureau of Mines will instruct the audience in safety measures that can be of great help generally. A Atkinson Family Going to England OAKLE- YEdna Atkinson is returning to England after being in America for 27 years. Edna is taking all her family that is left home, plus the newlyweds Mark and Mary Ann Peterson. She can hardly believe it is really happening and everyone is excited as they are gettingpackedtogo. They left June 7 and will return on July 2. My Sargent Wins Med County Dairy Princess Crown KAMA- S- The Dairy Princess Contest held June 1 in the High School auditorium was a tremendous success with Kathy Sargent of Hoytsville winning the' coveted crown. There were 15 contestants, each one being lovely in her own way. Rodney Maxfield kept the events of the evening rolling along smoothly with musical numbers being given by the Sunshine Specials and the Lefler family. The winner, Kathy Sargent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garth Sargent was sponsored by Brown Dairy. Brenda Fitzgerald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mont Fitzgerald and Tracy Hoyt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoyt was sponsored by Spring Run Dairy. Jan Lefler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lefler, sponsored by Blair Maxwell. Marla Sahleen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Sahleen, sponsored by Angus and Dewane Pace. Miss Congeniality was awarded to Kathy Sargent and Jan Lefler won the prize for ' . the best dairy dish. Door prizes were given to a large crowd. ed and drawn by Lily Marchant of Peoa and the embroidery work was done by Cumorah Brinton before turning it in to a State quilting group for Quick Action by Highway Patrol Results in Apprehension of Two Quick action by the Utah way High- Patrol and from the Summit County Sheriffs Department resulted in the. speedy apprehension and extradition of two suspects last weekend. According to investigating officers, Isom Leonard Thompson, 24, 3409 Bel Air, Denver, Colo., and Percy Michael Roberts, 23, 952WashingtonStreet, Denver, Colo., were wanted for questioning in regards to the disappearance of a large sum of money from a Wyoming gas station. Officers stated an attendant at the Evanston, Wyoming Tex aco Station had opened the service facility early Sunday morning. The attendant had a money bag containing approximately $300. The attendant told officers two men in a red Volvo drove into the station and one of the men got out of the car and or. dered the gas tank filled while the other remained in the vehicle. According to official reports the men paid for the gas with a credit card which was, following further investigation, determined to be stolen. When his second customer of the day paid for a gas purchase in cash and the attendant needed to make change he found the money bag was missing. The attendant immediately notified Uintah County Sheriffs officials and Utah Highway Patrolman Kim Bruschke spotted the suspects car in Coalville. Patrolman Bruschke summoned aid and trailed the vehicle to Kimballs Junction where he and other patrolmen halted the suspects car. A search of the small red car turned up an automatic pistol. Patrolmen took the two men to the Summit County Jail. Sheriff Ron Robinson stated the pair waived extradition and due to quick assistance from District Judge Allen B. Sorensen it was possible to return the two men to Evanston Bemocrats Pirn Local Bomeniba Milton WeileQman, former Summit County resident will be the keynote speaker at the Democratic County Convention in Summit County. The convention will be held Tuesday, June 12 at 8 p.m. at the Summit County Courthouse. Guests will be Utah Governor Calvin Rampton and Sec- retary of State Clyde Miller. Democratic Party chairman James Kilby will preside. A new chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer will be elected and other Democratic party business will be taken up. Officials stated guests are welcome and ask one and all to show an interest in your county and be present. |
