And Im not just talkingabout worldwide crisis and national trends. Right here at home, too. No longer can we relax and sit back and know that things are. going to keep on going like always. We must plan ahead-- we must keep pace with things not only as they have become in the past 10 years but as they will be 10 years, or 20 years, from now. t Who would have believed, six years ago, that a whole new community would spring up on the western edge of Morgan County? How can we as a news paper help to keep them happy and contented, when the only real connection they have with Morgan County is the school and the courthouse and probably same. Frankly, we can see no big change in Coalville in the next century. Kamas is progressing with foresight. Park City is a part of Summit County only bn the map. We're happy to note upcoming changes in the legal standing of newspaper people. Laws wiU help us. in our efforts to protect sources. You wouldnt believe the number of times I've heard this: Now Mac, I'm going to tell you a secret, but if you let any one know this information came from me I'U call you a liar. My little mental black ' book is loaded. The things newspapermen know and cannot print would fill a large black book. Those editors who have chosen to print such things have ended up where they belonged-o- ut! through on top, with a team score of 34-2- 4. Scoring: Mike Roath lost pin. Ronnie Moore, won decision. Several women quilted while a few joined the men in a game of pool. The bus showed up promptly at 12:45 to transport the citizens to the Chuck Wagon where they were served the most delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings even a scrumptious piece of chocolate cake. The Senior Citizens extend thanks to all concerned and Mar-chaShelly Isakson, Sandi Walker, of Peoa; and Debra Johnson, Marlene Lewis, Sherida Wilde, Tracy Hoyt, Zola Mae Lott, Mitzie Black and Bonnie McNeil for helping ..in the Kamas area. the church? ' AND THE SAME situation is magnified a hundred times in Park City. We owe our al"old-time- rs legiance to the who have been loyal and faithful through oiir 17 years of association with them. But they were unable to help during the years when we poured thousands of doUars down the drain to keep The Park Record alive and holding its place as Utah's oldest .weekly newsso-call- paper. Now there's ed a new breed of Parkites, and they're just as loyal and faithful to The Record and they have money to spend because skiing has brought a new era of prosperity. Often the oldtime'rs and the newcomers do not see eye to eye, and if we take sides we're stuck in the middle. Let's have controversy, its good for us for and for the community-a- nd some. the newspaper, say True. But where do we start and stop? ONLY THE SUMMIT County Bee, of our three beloved newspaper properties, remains the E WHY Jan. 28 to Feb. 3: Alan Karan Richins, Jimmy Mc-Micha- meetings. Many sessions deteriorate into an argument as to whether it was 1910 or 1912 that Aunt Maudie died or the locusts were so bad. Were more than happy to , Case in point: We co-opera- te. when a big, planned to locate in knew among the first factory Coalville several years ago. It was a big story, but we held it up. Still the word got out and proposed land prices skyrocketed so fantastically (and so selfishly) that the factory ended up in Morgan. It would be nice to have enough foresight and brains and guts to be able to plan ahead far enough to keep .up with changing times and still please most of the people most of the time. If you know of a person with all three of these attributes (plus about a million dollars to fall back on if he is wrong) let me know.
