Two construction workers for Peter Kiewit, Ray Hatfield and Jim Dalhdron joined forces and decided to spend a bit of their noon hour and some free time after work to gather bottles and cans off the freeway. For their efforts they received $18.14. Not bad. They picked up and flattened 118 pounds of aluminum beer cans, four and a half cases of beer bottles and four cases of soda water bottles. This haul was picked up on the piece of road in Echo Canyon, now under construction, and sold to Frank Cattelan at the Echo Cafe. It is hard to believe there are so many who continue to willfully litter the highways. Our thanks to these two gentlemen. May others seeing their good works do the same, and SHAME on the litter-bug- s.
