Show Summit Area Students Rank High in BYU Graduating Class of 1972 Students from our area were among the 3,687 who received diplomas at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, at commencement exercises on May 26, 1972 in the new 23,000-se- at State. gree. Marriott Center. The graduating class was the largest in the school's history. The doctor's degree was awarded to 41, the master's degree to 370, the bachelor's degree to 3,063. the associate degree to 211, and 2 sixth-ye- ar specialist degrees. With 25,000 students, Brigham Young University is the largest church-relatuniversity in the United ed States. The following list are the stu- dents from our area:Coalville-Rodne- y J. Brown, Bachelor de- gree, son of Mr. and Mrs. Parley Brown. Rodney and his wife and daughter Shauna Marie are living in Logan so he can work on his Masters degree at Utah Francis News Earl Bates, son of Mr. and Kamas, Earl J. Bates, Nancy Clawson Hansen, Carol Eva Kohkonen, Margaret Padfield, Dale James Ure, Dorothy Ann Wagstaff, all Bachelor degrees. Ronald Crittenden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund R. Crittenden of Hoytsville, received a National Scholarship from the Kemper Insurance Company of Chicago. Ronald will be employed by the Kemper Insurance Company for the summer, which is part of the scholarship and then return to BYU this fall. He will continue for his Bachelor degree in the spring. Ronald drove back east taking his mother's sister's daughter with him as far as Omaha and then continued on to Chicago. Mrs. Tom Bates graduated from the BYU on May 26, 1972, with a Bachelor Degree in Science, in the field of drafting and designing. Earl and his wife Ann live in Springville. Tom, Elda and Lonnie attended the graduation. Steve Fitzgerald, sorfof Mr. and Mrs. Don Fitzgerald graduated from Snow College June 2, 1972 in Associates in applied science. Mr. and Mrs. Don Fitzgerald, Grandma Fitzgerald and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Mitchell spent the day in Eph-rai- m attending graduation and helping Steve move home. Pink andJBhic Ralph and Cheryl Jones became first time parents on June 5, with the birth of their new Munsey w;ThMNcw:s Vernon there. have moved to Mountain View, Wyoming where Craig will be working in a mine. Eugene and Jocyle Darcey and LeRoy and Florinda Darcey enjoyed a visit with their five aunts, sisters of their father from California, Monday and Tuesday evenings. The five aunts, Marie Malm-bu- rg of Almeda; Francis of Orland; Kathryn Martin of Sacramento; Pat Sherwood of Sacramento and Emma Winchel of Clearla! . Highlands, live within 100 miles family get together was arranged Sunday in honor of Mrs. Millie Pendleton's 85th birthday. Her children planned a dinner for the 58 family members. The affair was held at the home of Zelma and Lynn Pendleton of Spanish Fork. Her A Kenneth W. Crittenden and Shanna V. Those present were: stepson Oral, wife and family from Mapleton, Marjean and Dale and family from Ogden; Ruby and Marquis and family from Ogden Mrs. Millie Pendleton was present at her oldest grandson, Joe's wedding Friday evening, in Salt Lake. The wedding was at Joe's wife Da Anna sister's home. Bates and daughter Charlotte flew to Denver to visit a son and brother David Bates and his wife Chris. Fisher's funeral services in Heber City, Tues- -' da, Nay 30, 1972. Loretta Darcey spent a week with her aunt Joan Marchant of Centerville, Utah. Elsie P. Petersen is going on vacation with her a three-we- ek Rhae daughter and and Clyde Kiddman and two children, Michael and Debra. They son-in-la- w, Mr. and Mrs. Monsmith of California visited with their son Mark who lives in Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bates' home. Verla R. Pace, wife of Harvey Pace has been in the LDS Hospital since Wednesday for tests. She will undergo surgery Monday or Tuesday. Kathy Perkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Per-tt- ns and Mr. Dennis Dwayne Pace, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne M. Pace were married Tuesday May 30 in the Logan Temple. That evening an Open House from p.m. in the Hall Cultural Ward Wanship for the happy newly married couple was held. 8-- 10 The Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne M. Pace family will travel to Richland, Washington for Dennis' and Kathy s wedding reception June 9, from p.m. in the Richland Stake Center, Thayer Drive, Richland, Washington. 8-- 10 baby daughter. Little" Jennifer" was born in the McKay Hospital weighing 6 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20 inches in length.
