Langford, Production Manager. a few, not all, public servants in the uniform of the Driver's License Examiners? I honestly believe if the heads of the Department in charge of the people who give examina- tions for Utah Operators' License, were to stand unseen behind the chief examiner's desk, or to install a listening device to be played back, they would be shocked beyond belief by the impatience, insolence and domineering aspect of the examiner. Not for a moment do I believe that the Department heads realize what is happening out "in the sticks. They should know. Perhaps this will let them know. TWO MONTHS AGO I came into an inevitable birthday, and took my test. The kids were just plain they were smart-alec- k, and impolite to the I was the final. Since I happened to be in a good humor at the time, I kidded them -t- wo of young men and a girl-o- ut their hurry and held my temper. But this Tuesday was different. Somebody stopped by the office and said: Mac, they're giving Louise a bad time down there, along with dozens of other people. Why dont you look in? tail-ende- rs, AND SO I looked in. A of people, all good string tax-payi- ng residents, all American izens, were standing in line and the examiner was barking orders. At any moment he might call out a dog. Wanted to know what I was doing there behind his desk and when I told him he threatened to call the sheriff. cit- took the opportunity to remind the people in line that they I were not to bow and scrape because these were OUR public servants. He is gorgeous, 6 feet three, 230. I showed him my Press Card and he gave it the sspltt. I stayed out of his hair. The Sheriff reminded I had every right to be there. I hear the tail -- end of the line got civil treatment.-Ma- c. By Tuesday, Feb. 15 please? you remember the elderly gentleman you barked at when he stepped away from your throne and you said, Come back here. Stop there! We may all look like a bunch of hicks and peons to you, from the metropolitan city, YOU come from. Does that give you the right to treat us like stupid cattle in a field. Why didnT you explain to us we had to PRINT (not write) with pens and NOT to' use pencils. Do DO YOU con-confu- sed REALIZE we, or most of us like me, are nervous in having to take a drivers test, (een tho we have driven for yearsand need someone to put us at ease. You grabbed our five dollars without a thank you. Do you know what it means to one to be treated like a tax-payi- ng citizen? Does your uniform and badge give you the right to act like Herr Hitler. Have you forgotten that you are a public servant? THIS SMALL community is three fourths ranchers and wrap-u- pin. p: V. Lythgoe, 4 field goals, 155 11 pts., 3 rebounds. K.
