Show William Lamb Dies in SLC New Utah Map Now Available One of Utahs best sellers the official 1968 Utah State High- -' arrived and is way map-h- as now in the process of distribu- tion to the public. According to Chris S. Metlos, Public Response Director, 750,000 of the colorful maps were printed this year. This represents an increase of 150,000 over last year and compares with 250,000 printed ten years ago. The maps were printed by Rand McNally L Company, Chicago, Illinois for $55,575 or about seven and a quarter cents per map. The cover of the colorful map features a desert flower at National Park. Inside on the pictorial portion, are photographs of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, the prize winning Colorado River Bridge, an autumn scene at Alpine Loop between American Fork and Provo, the famous Double Arch at Arches National Monument, LDS Temple Square, autumn in Logan Canyon, Bryce Canyon National Park, Joes Valley Reservoir in Emery County, an aerial view of Lake Fowell, Zions National Park, a view of the 'best snow on earth at ski resorts in Little Cottonwood Canyon, a view of the Great Salt Lake from the ds Oqulrrh Mountains near Magna and a picture of Utahs State Capitol Building. Over two hundred changes have been made on the map since the 1967 edition was printed. Most of the changes have been made to keep abreast of the statewide highway improvements. M ajor- - mileage changes have been made as Utahs Interstate Highway system is completed. The Interstate system, for instance has reduced the mileage from Salt Lake City to Ogden by two miles, from Salt Lake City to St. a distance of George-forme- rly 318 miles and now 313 miles; and Salt Lake City to Price from 124 miles to 121 miles. Even more significant than the reduction in mileage is the status of the improvement of the road system which greatly reduces travel time and is much more safe and economical to travel. Utah now has 289 miles of its 935 mile Interstate System complete and open to the motoring public. The State Highway Department is already planning for its 1969 publication of the state highway map. Both the front and back covers will be changed to keep the map current. Coalville Comment Elsie R.
