Show Ford Grants Aid Sugar House; 150,800 Allotted million. The $500 million appropriated for the special programs, which will be paid out over the next 18 month, includes: $210 million for grants to 615 regionally accredited, privately supported liberal arts and science colleges and universities in the United States to help them raise teachers' salaries. This supplements the $50 million appropriated last spring for teachers' salaries. $200 million for approximately 3500 privately supported hospitals to help them improve and extend their services to the public. $90 million for privately supported sup-ported medical schools to help them strengthen their instruction. Of the $500,000,000 appropriated appropri-ated by the Ford Foundation to further education and hospital service throughout the United States, $2,043,000 has been allocated alloca-ted to Utah institutions. And of Hie generous sum, $150,800 will go into Sugar House and southeast Salt Lake City. Westminster College will receive re-ceive $78,700; St. Mary's of the Wasatch, $59,000, and Cottonwood Cotton-wood Maternity LDS Hospital, $13,000. Brigham Young University in Provo will come in for the greatest great-est contribution from Ford in Utah, $1,030,1000. To supplement an encourage the efforts of the American people in meeting problems affecting the progress of the whole nation, the trustees of The Ford Foundation have approved special appropriations appropria-tions of $500 million for privately supported institutions in communities communi-ties all over the land.
