A missionary society has been organized by the High School Age girls of Third Church under the efficient leadership of Mrs. W. W. Whiting and Mrs. Charles Jack. This group will study the great missionary work of the Church and carry on various enterprises to help in this work.. To learn of the brave missionary effort of individuals in China, Japan, China and Persia; to understand the power that enables them to stand in the face of persecution, danger, hardships; to feel with them the desire to lift the poor and Ignorant into the light of the Bible message with its promise of abundant life, is to have a true appreciation of the missionary effort. The Ladies Aid Society met with Mrs. O. L. Haerr, 1554 Harvard Avenue, on Tuesday afternoon. A splendid group of women were in attendance. Mrs Haerr was assisted by Mesdames R. V. New Hymnals have been ordered by the Church School to replace the ones now In use. This will add greatly to the efficiency and joy of our Sunday School department. Salt Lake City commissioners moved Tuesday to im prove traffic conditions in the South vicinity of Twenty-firand Eleventh East streets. Highland Drive 137 hogs Governor Answers Public Health Throe hundred and ten new cases of communicable disease were reported to the Utah State Board of Health during the week ending November 10, according to Dr. William M. McKay. This number is compared with 202 for last week (a 60 per cent in crease,) and 230 cases for the corresponding week a year ago. Greater increases wer report ed In the number of new cases of whooping cough and chickenpox. Other diseases for which increases were reported was in fluenza, measles, scarlet fever and pneumonia. The small business man has come to the conclusion that he has had enough of "prosperity just around the corner", and when the election comes around in 1940 there will be some politicians who will be surprised when the vote is counted.
