Mrs. Rose Henderson, county chairman, has been asked to direct the contest in this county. The contest is designed to create are Informed public opinion based on fact, and is being conducted in every county in the state. Winners of the local contest will compete in district contests, thelatter to be held on August 24. From the district contest, winners will go to the state contest, the first, second and third place winner of which will be awarded substantial prizes. The state contest will be held on the 14th day of September, 1940. The expenses of winners of county contests to the district contests, and the winners of the district contests to the state contest, will be paid by the Women's Divicion of the Democratic State Committee. Such winners of the county, district and state contests will be used as speakers during the campaign this fall. Each women the contest must be 18entering years of age or over. Her speech must cover any single phase of the New Deal program, such as the conservation program, NYA, CCC, WPA professional and service projects. WPA construction projects, etc., of what the New Deal has done for the home, bank, business, farm etc., and the speech must not be longer than twelve minutes. In some counties speech classes are being organized to give women special training. Local high school and junior college teachers are often available for such classes at a nominal fee.
