Mr. Johnston was born in Sweden in 1876, grew up on his parents farm, and came to America in 1893. He settled on a farm near Denver, Colorado, but soon became discouraged in the life of a farmer and gave it up for a job in a general merchandising store in Denver. But things didn't measure up to expectations so he came to Utah "to see how green our pastures were.''
