Cottom of the dlh ward, said it is with pleasure I meet with your here to day. It fs one of the most beautifnl sights I ever said. He realized that the children of today wouM be the men and Vi'omsn of tomorrow. He had beet, with the taShiili ftirml .v.r cinrA if started in St Geerve said there i no exeuse for our children to be ignorant ignor-ant of the principles of the Gospel of Christ for we ' have every opportunity to learn the truth of the same from their earliest youth. Hald the Sabbath Schools are today; to-day; were, in round nr.mbers about ond Hundred thousand said that if it was possible to impress upon the minds of the youth the necessity of do ing nothing but what was taught tke in in the Sabbath Mchool, what a blessing it would be to them in all fatnre life. Maid that the Catholics aid if they oould have the training of the youth tUl they were from to 13 years ef aga, they would run the risk of them leaving the Cathlolc religion. . Said we should be as diligent in teaching our children in th-sr youth, the true principles of the gospel. We all comprehend that when a twig Is young, we can bend it more easily then s when it is grown for it is then beard to bend. So with our children. We should teaoh our Children to ehua evil of every nature. We should know who their playmates are and what company com-pany they keep, as our children are onr "Eternal riches aud wa should teaoh them in their jouth the way they should go. If we imagine for a moment because we, their parents, knew the gospel gos-pel to be true, that our children will know It, we will be as much decived as wa would be to belelve that because we have been to school and learned the multiplication table that oar children would know it. Our having a testimony that Joseph Smith was prophet and that the gospel Is true, will not give onr ehildren a knowlvge of It. They must receive it for themselves. We should teach our children good manners at home and teach them to be honest tn every aot of their lives, fle paayed that the light aud inspiration of the Holy Spirit might rest noon all. both parents and and children. A. W. Ivins president of the Mei-lean Mei-lean Mission, sad I should like to know how many children are here this morning. I should Judge there are about 500 people here this'tnorning a great majoity of which are Interested in the Sabbath Sab-bath School. I have hoped that the interest of the sabbath school and other Branches 01 learning learn-ing would be as much encouraged in St. George aa any other place. Wondered if the children realized what they were doing when they partake f the sacrament, if they understood that by per-taking per-taking of these they were showing to God that they remembered tbe great sacrifice tbe Savloi toade for them; so should we be willing to lay 4own our Uvea for the defence of the gospel, as men lay down their Uvea on the battle field mo re should be willing to lay dawn oar lives for the .-.-" |
