Show Bald Eagle. Thursday' Sept. 12, at 5-55 p. m. a large Bald Eagle came from the north east and attempted attemp-ted lighting on the north west corner buttress of the St, George Temple but arose and rested, upon the spire, where he spent the night. At. 5-50 a. m; Friday, he circled three times around the dome, . against the sup. Then went south west ; returning, went west ; returned and went north east; returned again and rested on the spire, head to- the east, as the Town ClocTi tolled six, where he remained re-mained about ten minutes, and again sailed once around the dome with the sun, went some distance east, returned and started west, turning southward, made a large circle,' going nearly out of sight ; returned to the northwest north-west corner as though intending- to alight on the buttress, but -changing course rested again upon the., spire, heading 'eastward, wliere ha, remained until 7-30 and arose, circled abound a short time, left, going direct south until out of sight.- ' . Fire. On the 18th inst. a staclj of Lucern hay belonging to J,S. Wood-, bury (who is now on a mission.' to' the Sandwich Islands,), caught fire, but how, no one seems to know. The fire commenced on the east'side, and but for thepvornpt assistance rendered by Ladies and Gentlemen it would have been .entirely, consumed. : A line was formed - passing buckets and wa(er, and the .lire'.; was ; s.oon extiguished. ;. L.City to attend the Semi-Annual Semi-Annual Conference of the .Church of Jesus Christ of: Latter Day Saints, to be held Oct. 6. We wish them a pleasant trip and safe return. On tho evening of tho. 15 inst. we attended attend-ed a joint meeting of the young men and ladies M. I. A. in the First "Ward of this City. Tho meeting was well attended. Hon. Thomas Judd addressed" the assembly land gave an interesting account of his inissjon'to Europe. Weather Quangos are; cool, warm, sultry. pleasant;an extra blanket nights, and a coat night and morning seems quite comfortable. Yellow Leaves are putting in an appearance, Mr. E. T. Parry from Manti infonhs us that crops are god'd in that region thiay ear. Jilr. Andrew Perkins from Kanara, reports j fine crops on the rim. |
