Show AN ORDINANCE In Relation to Dogs. Section i. Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of St. George That it shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep a dog within the limits of the City of St. George, without first making application to the City Recorder to have such Dog registered and obtaining a Certificate Certifi-cate of such Registration: Provided, that dogs owned by . travelers passing pass-ing into or through this City and not remaining longer than one week need not be so registered. Section 2. It shall be the duty of the City Recorder to register any Dog on application of the owner or keeper thereof, and issue to such owner or keeper, a Certificate of Registration, under the Corporate Seal of the City, on payment to said Recorder, of the sum of Three Dollars, Dol-lars, such Certificate shall be numbered num-bered in the order of issue and shall be in force for one year only from and after the date of the same, but may be renewed annually on payment pay-ment of the sum aforesaid: an entry by the Recorder in a record book kept by him for that purpose, of the description of the Dog, the name of the owner or keeper, the number ; and date of entry, shall constitute such registration. Section 3. All Dogs registered as provided in sections 1 and 2 of this Ordinance shall wear a suitable collar, with the number thereon corresponding cor-responding with th- certificate of registry, and all dogs found running at large, and not registered or wearing wear-ing a collar, and all female dogs running run-ning at large while in heat, or any fierce or dangerous dog, or any dog which destroys property whether registered or not registered may be killed by the City Marshal or any of his deputies or any person or member mem-ber of the family injured by the same. this city, and any dog found running at large during the time specified in said proclamation, without being securely se-curely muzzled, may be killed by any person. Section 7. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, Ordi-nance, is guilty of an offense and on conviction thereof shall be' liable to a fine not exceeding thirty dollars or to be imprisoned in the city jail not exceeding thirty days, or to both fine and imprisonment. Section 8. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication according to law. Passed by the City Council October Octo-ber 2d, 1897. Edward M. Brown, seal. Mayor. It shall be unlawful for the owner or keeper of any dog within the limits of this city, to suffer or permit the same to enter or to be in any place of worship or public assembly as-sembly during the time that the people peo-ple are assembled therein. Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person to kill or cause to be killed any dog registered and col-! lered as heretofore provided except as provided in Section 3 of this Ordinance Ord-inance or to deprive any registered dog of its collar or to put a numbered num-bered collar on any dog not so registered, reg-istered, or to suffer or permit a numbered num-bered collar to remain on any dog owned or kept by them after the expiration ex-piration of the certificate of registration, regis-tration, and without such certificate being renewed. Section 6. The Mayor may, Jof reasonable apprehension of danger from mad or . rabid dogs, issue a proclamation forbidding the running run-ning at large of any and all dogs in |
