Show beforo God, iti every net of our lives. There is no necessity of our partaking of the evils of the world, for by listening to the whisperings whis-perings of the Holy Spirit we will never be led astray when we are required to do anything by the servant ser-vant s of God. "We have our agency and act in these matters of our own free will and we are rewarded according to our own doings. Spoke of the dealings of God with the House of Israel in the days of iHbses and showed that by their disobedience, God took away the higher orders of the priesthood and left them with the lesser priesthood priest-hood and the law of Carnal Commandments Com-mandments and the law of Sacrifice which was continued until the coming of the Saviour who was the great Sacrifice and also the Redeemer Re-deemer of the world who laid down his life for us all, and it is the duty of the Latterday Saints to ke p all the laws and commandments of God and prepare ourselves and raise up a righteous seed upon the earth and perform the ordinances of the gospel in the House of the Lord. We are required Jo keep ourselves pure and forsake all our sins. If we do this the spirit of God will be our constant companion and we will never be led astray and the spirit of the truth of the gospel will remain with us, and we will be ready for a mission or any duty we are called upon to perform. per-form. There is a responsibility resting upon the heads of families and leading men among this people, peo-ple, which, if we neglect, will bring sorrow to us. I know this work is true and I hope to live up to every duty required of me. Let us be merciful to all mankind. "We do not hate tbe wicked, but we must not follow in their wickedness, but let us be wise and set good examples before all mankind. Brethren remember re-member your prayers and your offerings, and may God bless you is my prayer. Choir sang an anthem. , Benediction by Wm. Croft. Wm. Atkin, reporter. un ilay Services. Harmon Hafen said I realize the responsibility resting upon an elder when standing up to address the Latter-day Saints. It is quite different standing before those who have embraced the gospel and those who have not. He relized that the saints can assist those who arise to speak, by giving them their faith and prayers, for God will accept ac-cept us and answer our prayers, when we approch him in faith. It is disobedience to the principles princi-ples of the gospel that causes people peo-ple who have had a testimony of the truth of this work, to depart from it. ' If we neglect our prayers and other duties that are required of us, the spirit of God will leave us, and when it is withdrawn from us, we are an easy pray to the ad-N ad-N versary, therefore we should be on our guard. God will be merciful to us if we will keep his commandments. command-ments. I know that God has heard the prayers of the saints in healing heal-ing the sick. He related one circumstance cir-cumstance of a young lady who was out of her miud and he and others administered to her and she recovered. Also related other circumstances cir-cumstances where others had been healed by these same ordinances. We can all have a knowledge of the truth of the gospel if we will live in a way to be worthy of this . testimony. Edward M. Brown said he was not ashamed to acknowledge that he is a Jormon and he believes that this is the true work of the Lord. John Smutz said I have a testi-mony testi-mony of the truth of this work; I know that it is true and I advise rny young brethren to prepare themselves to perform every duty you may be called to do. Prest D. D. McArthur said I am pleased with what I have heard this afternoon. I, with others, expect ex-pect to go to the general confer-ance. confer-ance. For myself I go to learn the ways of the Lord It is quite a lesson to learn to perform all the duties we are called upon to perform per-form and to keep ourselves upright |
