Show CORRESPONDENCE. Munfordville, Hart Co, Ky., May 27, 1897. Ed. Union: Thanks for the Union. I will send some of my experiences as a'i Missionary, in the wilds .of the! Picturesque State of Kentucky, though at times, the scenery looses j its historic' grandeur, in consequence of the abundance of mud that accumulates accu-mulates on my shoes, that have recently re-cently received an immaculate polish which would put a goat in. a state of furv, should he chance to gaze upon them. Missionary labor to a Mormon Elder is like the market mar-ket in Wall Street up and down . Sometimes we are feeding pn the proverbial sprinsr chicken and beinc: take care of the Elders when they do thejr duty, travel absolutely without with-out purse or scrip, keep the Word of Wisdom, and obey the commands of of those who are placed over them. I can testify that the labors of a Missionary will be worth a "goldmine" "gold-mine" to him, if he will but do his duty. Yours Respectfully George E, Miles. entertained by the well to do people, such as ministers, doctors and lawyers; law-yers; and at other times we are a-mong a-mong ths poorest, and are fed on Corn bread, bacon and water, but no matter what if is, it is accepted with gratitude and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father, who will not let His servants go hungry, as long as they do their duty and keep His commandments. I have been here just 9 months and have worked in 4 Counties-Boyle, Counties-Boyle, Marion,- Taylor and Hart, and have visited the Saints in Greeq and Melcalf Counties, and found them to be a very solid lot of people and would put to shame some of our people at home by their strictness strict-ness in keeping the Word of Wisdom and doing their duty. The Kentuckians 'are a very generous lot of people, and siuce I have been in the State I have been entertained royally and treated with great kindness and have had plenty of opportunities , to find out God and to know that He lives and does, |
