Willi the exception of two ear loads expected yesterday all the beets have been delivered for 1 lie season -A'.). out) tons altogether kK 000 having already been cut this season. Down at the stool; yards there are being fed by White and Haymond UoOasfltie cat 1 1 as h is ever been seen in this sectiun. For this feeding tin-re is used daily 100 tons of pulp ami about 7 tons of hay. Tho same firm are feeding in an adjoining field 700 sheep, the pulp ;alone being used in tho feeding. The silos are now nearly lllled with pulp and another an-other two weeks the pulp will be (lumped into a hollow in a field south of the silos and will be sold from there to the farmers for feed fur stock. There are about 3-1 days run yet. although the cutting may lie finished by December 2i. Tho total cmp fur thisyear amounts It some over 4.",0i)j tons which is about the same as two years ago. Of this amount some 12.0'X) tuns were raised in Lehi. In this district they have been short of water which has caused a decreased tonnage in many instances, but ' for all that the crop has averaged 10 tons per acre. This is by far the best average for this district and is an excellent, showing fur the good work done by the farmers. They have given much time and attention at-tention to this crop and are now reaping reap-ing the reward of their labors. The recent disbursement of thousands of dollars among them lias been a great encouragement to them and a Viimii-lusforihe Viimii-lusforihe future wori. The company com-pany will have no trouble in contracting contract-ing for ail the beets they want next year. The first of the improvements sug gested by Supt. Valley, has been made. This is several large coolers for the syrup. These were placed in position In the cooling room some time ago and have already been tilled with syrup. Up to date the factory has worked up 30,,VJ(i tons of beets. This is an average of 400 tons per day including all stops since the mill started. This is by far the best average made here and is the best, record for a factory fac-tory of the same capacity in this country. About l')0 tons of mother beets have been selected and are stored in several long silos in the field south of the factory, Particular care will be taken of them and in the spring all that are in a fit condition will be planted for seed and should yield the largest crop of seed ever raised in A merica. An Alfulfu Story, Seven years ago a fanner in Juab county with nothing but a 40-acre lot of land began the raising of lucern seed. A few days ago he was offered 417,000 for his possessions all acquired from the sales of his.seed crop. Some farmers have reli.ed $o0 an acre, net this year. Surely no crop raised in this county yields better returns than this, and Millard is the banner county. Clear Creek Hneu Infant mortality is something frightful. Nearly one-quarter die before they reach one year, one third before tney are five, and one-half before they are fifteen! On Sunday, November 20, the Burlington Bur-lington Route made a radical change in the schedule of the Chicago Special its tlnust and fastest Denver-Chicago train. Heretofore, this train has left Denver Den-ver in the morning-immediately after arrival of D. & R. G. and Colorado Colo-rado Midland trains from the West. It now leaves at 1:40 p. in., arriving at Omaha in time for breakfast the next morning, and at Chicago at 8;15 p. ui. the same day. In oilier words, it runs 1,046 miles in 2(.4 hours an average rate of speed of about "6 miles an hour. There are not half a dozen long-distance trains in the I " n i ied States which are scheduled faster than thirtv six miles an hour. And there is not one not a single one which has us gnud a record as the Chicv.go Special for being "on time all the time."' The equipment of the Chicago Consists of (oic sleeping, one dining, one library and two chair cars. The cars are of the newest design, and have been in the service less than six in ititlis. All of them have the. new wide vestibule, and are lighted with Pint sell gas. The sleeper is upholstered in peacock pea-cock blue, and contains twelve sections sec-tions anil a draw ing-rouiu. The toilet rooms are unusually roomy a circumstance circum-stance to which much of the train's popularity is due. In each of the two roolining-ehair cats are seats fm fifty-six persons, ladies' and gentlemen's toilet rooms (with soap, marble wash-basins, comb, brush, towels, and an abundance abund-ance of water, both hot and cold), and a smoking room, upholstered in leather. Of tho eleven dining cars operated by the lfurlington Route, none is drier than thai on tne Chicago Special, li is as bright as a new pin. The linen is spotlessly clean. Hie service prompt, and on every table is a gorgeous gor-geous bouquet of A merican Peauty roses, one of which the waiter aftlxes to jour coat when you have finished your meal. Host of all. the t in curie plan prevails you pay only fur what you order. The library car is the men's favorite retreat.
