All Doctors have tried to cure CATAKK1I bv the use of powders, acid gases, inhalers and drugs in paste form. Their powders dry up the mucuous membranes causing them to crack open and bleed. The powerful acids used in the iuhalers have entirely eaten away the same membranes that their makers have aimed to cure, while pastes and ointments oint-ments cannot reach the disease. An old and experienced practitioner who has for many years made a close study and specialty of the treatment of CATARRH, has at last per reeled a Treatment which when faithfully used, not only relieves ;tt once, but permanently cures CATARRH, bv removing the cause, stopping the discharges, dis-charges, and curing all inflammation. E j;n at Provo on the 4th, when Mendeh-hall's Mendeh-hall's Michael was entered in a contest con-test with Watkins's Bess. It was pronounced t he best race of the day. Michael won three straight beats in 1:171, 1:16 and 1:14, respectively. The Springville horse was driven by John Wilson, a Provo man now employed in Springville. A rumor was in circulation at the race track that the race was to be "thrown" by Michael's driver, arid the Provo horse allowed to win. Mr. Wilson's work with Michael effectually allayed whatever suspicion there might have been. Xo one here thinks the Provo man did not intend to give his Springville friends a fair deal. The Provo correspondent of the Suit JAike Utruld has this to say of a future race: 'The pacing race on July 4th between the Springville horse, Michael, arid the Provo marc, Hess, in which Michael won, is likely to bring about a match between the two animals to take place in September. Septem-ber. Although Michael beat Hess on the Fourth, some of the Provo boys think the mare is the faster animal and have expressed the idea that they would like to make a match race to come off at a time in the future when the mare could be placed in better condition. The Springville backers of Michael hearing this Saturday sent word that they were ready to match for $l,wo a side. The race will undoubtedly be made." It Dazzles The World. One of the recent additions mde by George Walter Vincent Smith to hi collection at the art museum is of unusual un-usual interest. It is an immense book or missal tinting back to 1539, in which lire inscribed the words and music of the Gregorian chants of the old Catholic Cath-olic elierelies, says th Springfield (Mass.) liepiiblican. The work in this book is beautifully done, and its great antiquity is evident from the first sight. The words are inscribed by hand in Latin, and the music is written out in some obsolete kind of notation. The pages are of parchment, and in an nlmost perfect state of preservation. The initial letters let-ters arc beautifully illuminated. A single page is nearly four feet long by about two feet wide, and one man can hardly handle the wood. It id bound i;h boards of wood, covered witli leather, somewhat worn, and the brass iih'en is used for trimming is corroded. The book was evidently intended in-tended for use on some kind of astand in some tine old cathedral. It i said lo have come from Seville, Spain, some time ago, and to have been Fold been u-e of the poverty of the parish in order to make repairs on the building. There is said to be but one other such book iu this country, and that is at Detroit. The Boy I'rearhed. An interesting program waj witnessed by several hundred people here on the Fourth of July. The oration delivered by the Hon. A. Saxy was perhaps the feature of the day. Rare sports, ice cream and lawn parties were enjoyed until 7 p.m. Fred Cone received the $100 prize for t he best sentiment on the flag, and Thomas Menr'enhall earned a dollar by climbing the greased pole, after many others had attempted the same and failed. The small boy who was throwu thirty feet into the air from a wagon cover almost terrorized a number of the fair sex. A pleasant feature of the day's program was the many excellently lendercd pieces by the local brass band under the direction direc-tion of Charles E. Allen. Charlie is doing good work in that direction. The manner in which the meeting house was decorated for the occasion with flags, bunting and (lowers caused many flattering comments. The patriotic populace helped to fill out the program by discussing the water problem, pro and con, between the oration, speeches and songs. A pleasant ball was given at Johnson's hall in the evening. At a recent mass meeting called for the purpose of ascertaining if the more ancient water-righters were excIte-THlinK t0 share thcir riIUs wilh few or the less fortunate citizens nothing was accomplished, except the appointment of a committee to visit the old claimants on the matter. Said committee has not made a public report yet, but privately they say that during their inquiries they have found that the badj people, of Maple-ton Maple-ton or those regarded as such in the past are proving to be the very best at t his hot, droulhy time of 'he year: and said committee think further, that while there may be a Tew disagreeable dis-agreeable Latter-day Saints here, there are not many genuine sinners: and more, that said sinners are nunc sinned against than sinning. On Monday evening the committee will make a public report at a mass meeting meet-ing called for the purpose of hearing reports from the dry districts, and to further consider the water question.
