Our food is as good as could be expected under the circumstances. circum-stances. There has been much criticism criti-cism of the way in which the campaign cam-paign in the Philippines has been managed, but the fault finding has been done largely by editors at home who are warring with the administration administra-tion and by a few volunteers who did not receive their discharges as soon as they wished. Military men here show little disposition to criticise criti-cise the conduct of the campaign, and most of the boys here have learned that the partisan press has taken a delight in printing discouraging ic-ports. ic-ports. The sick list is very large, over 1.000 patients being in the First Reserve hospital at Manila. We have attacks from the insurgents very frequently, but I hope we will close the campaign this fall, although we shall stay to do garrison duty until :iur time is up.
