Do they contain notices of your school?, lodges and the hundreds of matters of local interest your home paper publishes? No, not one item. Do they publish a word calculated to draw tiade to your town and your enterprise? And yet there are men who take contracted views in this matter who think if they don't get as many i-ouare inches of reading mat ter in t heir home paper they are not getting the worth of their money. It reminds me of the- man who took the biggest pair of boots in the lox because they cost the same as the pair that fitted him. The Independent's report last week of rumors to the effect that gambling was being again carried on as of yore, seems to have been pretty near the truth. Some of the lads hastened to commit themselves hy threatening this paper with a loss of pat ronage and friends if the matter was further ventilated. They are cordially- invited to indulge in a pursuit of themselves and The Inde pendent will strengthen its last week's assertion by stating that, it believes gambling is now being carried on, and that the hard-earned savings of many a boy's summer's wo:k is flowing into the pockets of the professional pro-fessional gamblers. As this paper is no detective, the matter is hereby referred to the attention of the Mayer and City Marshal. The phenomenal business done by "777" at the Salt Lake theatre last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights demonstrated quite conclusively con-clusively that, attractions of a more serious import invariably command the best attention of theatre jatrons. Therefore the engagement through special arrangement of the services of the eminent actor, A. W. Fremont and his unquestionably competent, aggregation of dramatic talent t prwyide an entertainment next Monday, Mon-day, night, November 20, at the City hall, Springville, from all accounts is sure to afford unalloyed enjoyment, more particularly to that class of theatre patrons who delight in their appreciation of good wholesome dramatic plays. On the above night in question Mr. Fremont will be seen in the sensational comedy-drama, "777." The play entitled "777" is said to contain an unlimited supply of vigorous dramatic material and to provide a vein of a certain kind of spirited comedy which iuvariablj finds favor in a marked degree. Hood's Sarsaparilla cures catarrh, promptly d permanently, because it 6triks at the root of the trouble.
