It was early, and the owner was evidently yet in the arms of Morpheus. Taking Tak-ing a careful survey ot the premises he climbed the fence, approached the coveted tree, and taking another furtive fur-tive glance at the house, be shied a dornix into the laden boughs bringing a quantity to the ground, from which he filled his pockets and departed chewing. The owner of the fruit saw the entire performance, from his bed-looni bed-looni window, and later in the day gathered a half bushel of apples and sent them to the man with his compliments. com-pliments. Moral The early burgher catches the apple. 1 r - They Wont Go There" Any More. Four lads, whose names are withheld, with-held, were arrested last Saturday for taking fruit without pel mission of the owner, and plead guilty to the charge before Judge Hover, at the City Hall Monday forenoon. The parents par-ents were present. It appeared that the boys had been warned many times and admonished to let the fruit alone, but they presisted in theii depredations dep-redations unt-il they were no longer endurable. The Judge discharged the culprits, under suspended sentence, after giving giv-ing them a heart to heart talk and having them shown the appartmeuts furnished to those who presist in breaking the law. All the parents took the proceedings kindly excepting one, who thought "It a little thing to arrest a boy for taking an apple," Yes. just so! One hundred little boys taking tak-ing one hundred little apples every time they pass the orchard will soon denude the trees Who ever heard of a little boy taking just "one little apple."and no more? Such a boy has not as yet been evolved from the Sunday Sun-day school. Just cast jour eyes t -ward the boys pockets as he emerges j from the orchard and then estimate how many are stowed away in his capacious pockets. The boys must be tought to respect the property riyhis of others. When a person troes to the expense of planting, even a gourd, that gourd belongs to that person against all coiners, and no person has a riffht to touch it without permission from the owner. Taking little apples will lead to taking little egits, which lead to purloining the hen that laid them, then by gradual steps to the stealing of sheep and cattle,' the rob bing of banks and the holdiug up of trains.
