Tlis expenditure we are told has saved sav-ed to the farmers $100,000 in crops, which was a paying investment, in-vestment, and one striking instance in-stance where bounties pay It is said that in some localities in Bevier Co., the fields are swarming swarm-ing with the pests. If there is not something done to destroy them this season there will be ten next year where there is one this. Such a condition will be a menace to the entire state. Let Sevier County hatch out an o.-erwhelming crop of "hoppers, and after they have eaten that county out and taken wings, woe unto that locality where they light! It is really a serious matter. mat-ter. If the infested localities are unable to carry on the work of extermination, then the State should come to the rescue and pulverize the pestifferous pest, Httd thus prevent the hungry hoard from descending upon us next year, "More terrible than au army with banners." Utah Stake Primary Association held conference in the Meeting House last Friday, Fri-day, in this City. Mesdames Cornel ia II. Clayton, Stake Pres. Eliza Taylor and Roseua Selk, Vice Presidents, of Provo were present. Two sessious were held and much instruction imparted iu relation to the training of the young. Death Scores Another Last Thursday, about the noon hour, Jacob Houtz passed into the sleep of death. He had been sick for several months with a complication of diseases, heart, kidneys and asthmatic affection, af-fection, and his demise was thought liable to occur at any time. During the last year he has lived with and been cared for by his brother Fr-d M. Houtz and family. The deceased was born in Salt Lake City, May 22nd 1848 and resided there with his parents until about 1865 when they came to live hi Springville, where he has since resided. The funeral rites were observed observ-ed at the residence of F. M. Houtz, on Saturday, and a large number of relatives and friends were in attendance. The Lake Shore Gusher. From reliable reports, comes the news that the five inch well drove for the Lake Shore Irri gation Co, has steadily increas ed its flow in the last two weeks, eaping one inch higher and flowing sixty gallons per minute more than at first. Why could not the City make a test with the deep well machine? No val- d objection could be made to he expenditure of the necessa- ry means lor ine resuiis wouui no doubt be successful. Fifty-five years ago today the Pit -nevrs drove iuto "The Valley of the Great Salt Lake." and said "whoa!" to their tired cuttle upon the site of Salt Lake City, with a sigh of relief at the thought chat the weary journey jour-ney was over, aud a hopeful sigh at the thought, that there they would build their family altars, and erect a temple and altar to the "Most High." Since that important day, much has been done to reduce the the wild rugged region, fresh as from the hand or the Infinite, and without polish, into homes for a commonwealth, common-wealth, with the comforts and con veniences of modern times. What of ; the completed century? The highways high-ways will be leveled, smoothed and sprinkled, upon which the electric car will glide from one center to another an-other in the shaddows af the overgrowing over-growing foliage. Unhealthy Kidneys Hake Impure Blood. All the blood in your body passes through your kidneys once every three minutes. i ne Kianeys are your blood purifiers, they filter fil-ter out the waste or impurities in the blood. If they are sick or out of order, they fail to do their work. Pains, aches and rheumatism rheu-matism come from excess ex-cess of uric acid in the blood, due to neglected kidney trouble. Kidney trouble causes quick or unsteady heart beats, and makes one feel as though they had heart trouble, because the heart is over-working in pumping thick, kidney-poisoned kidney-poisoned blood through veins and arteries. It used to be considered that only urinary troubles were to be traced to the kidneys, but now modern science proves that nearly all constitutional diseases have their beginning begin-ning in kidney trouble. If you are sick you can make no mistake by first doctoring your kidneys. The mild and the extraordinary effect of Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy is soon realized.
