Show Thursday, March 8, 2007 SPRINGVILLE HERALD Council discusses new city buildings Martin Coriover SPRINGVILLE HERALD The Springville City Council agreed on a timeline time-line Tuesday to move the new city building project along, with the idea of starting start-ing the building this fall. Public meetings are planned for this summer, at which time conception plans will be shown for the city hallpublic safety building and the library. No mention was made for the public works building which is planned for south of the Whitehead Utility building. The council also announced an-nounced that they will appoint ap-point an ad hoc committee to study the needs for a new swimming pool. Costs and financing were not discussed. A representative met "with the council from the Utah Association of Municipal Mu-nicipal Power Systems to discuss the participation of Springville City in the new IPP 3 Power project north of Delta. The city is tentatively looking at 25 megawatts of power which willbe needed by the year 2013 when the plant is to come on line. The power is a "take or pay" deal because the power pow-er plant must run every day and all day as is the nature na-ture of all large, coal-fired plants. The total capacity of the plant is rated at 900 megawatts mega-watts and will cost $2.6 billion. Rocky Mountain Power is also participating in the project. Present projections pro-jections indicate that power from the plant will cost $51.75 per megawatt hour in 2013 dollars. Construction of the plant is expected to begin this coming fall or winter. Springville resident Loren Phillips was named the water wa-ter master for the Plat A irrigation irri-gation this coming summer., . , The planning commission commis-sion will change their terms of office from six years to New house Continued from page 1 finished, the family was sent on a trip to Disneyland thanks to an anonymous donor. Curtis will be living in the home with her two grandchildren as well as a daughter and a son. "I don't know what I've done to deserve it," Curtis Cur-tis said when asked why she believed her neighbors thought she deserved the new home. Curtis's daughter daugh-ter Dee Smith, however, was quick to point out that her mother was always willing will-ing to take in or help any of her children's friends. "She welcomed anybody in our home and wouldn't ask for anything in return," Smith said. "She just has a good heart." The new home's main floor includes a sitting room, kitchen, eating area, a bedroom and the master bedroom suite. Upstairs is a large family room area and two additional bedrooms.
