Binks IMione 0109-IU The two wards of Mapleton with the assistance of the city council held their annual community Christmas social in the Memorial Hall Christmas eve. The Sunday Schools of the wards made the arrangements and Harold Gividen Introduced the pr6gram. A pageant pag-eant entitled the First Christmas was presented by the Junior Sunday Sun-day School of the Mapleton ward with Barbara Allen as reader. La-Vere La-Vere Tippetts sang a solo which was followed by a pageant from the Junior Sunday School of the Mapleton Second ward in which Neva Stringer was the reader. In it Christmas in other lands was depicted such as Norway, Holland and Spain. Community singing was enjoyed led by Orpha Dee Johnson and Pat Bills. Santa Claus was there with a treat for every one in the capacity filled hall. week. Tuesday morning they ferried across the bay to Tia Jauna, Mex., and then back to San Diego. Wednesday Wed-nesday morning they traveled along the coast line to Long Beach where they inspected the oil wells. Thursday the 30th they will be in Hollywood and Los Angeles where they will view the cinarama and see the Forest Lawn Temple. They will see the Rose Parade at Pasadena Pasa-dena on New Year's Day and plan to attend church on Sunday and will leave for home on Monday morning. E. F. Binks, Ralph Harmer, George Pate and Lewis Snow are furnishing the cars and will accompany accom-pany them on their trip with Or-land Or-land Cloward going along as alternate alter-nate driver. Boys who qualified for the trip are Joseph Banks, Jr., Jessie Warren, Sergie Nelson, Jr., Rex Jensen, Keith Jensen, Niel Jensen, Larry Christensen, Jimmy Wiscombe, Warren Davidson, Boyd Hales, Fred Hurst, Morris Warren, Richard Barker, Clyde Stevens, Calvin Hjorth, Bruce Heath, Bill Wiscombe, Marvin Jensen, Martin Palmer, Boyd Halvorsen, Donald Cloward and Raymond Hooper. Mrs. Greenwood is formerly from England and a pen pal of Dorthy Daniels Binks since they were students in high school. They have corresponded for several sev-eral years and a year ago Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood came to Salt Lake City to make their home and where Mr. Greenwood is a student at the U. of U., majoring in sociology. sociol-ogy. ' Mrs. Helen Gutke and daughter of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Naomi Rowe and daughter Rene of Provo were home for the Christmas holidays. holi-days. The home of Patriarch and Mrs. Oscar Whiting was the scene of well planned Christmas party for the Special Interest group of the Mapleton ward Mutual Tuesday evening. Mrs. Floss Phillips entertained enter-tained with Christmas stories and refreshments were served to twenty twen-ty four class members. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dyett of Salt Lake City spent the Christmas Christ-mas holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Burton Warren. Twenty boys who had received their individual awards in their Teacher's quorum in the Mapleton wards are enjoying a holiday vacation va-cation in sunny California this . Virginia Hall is in the Spanish Fork hospital for treatment. Tuesday night Den Four of the Mapleton Cub Scouts held their Christmas party at the home of Max Hall at which their parents were special guests. Each father was presented with a key ring and each mother received a basket which the boys had made. Hugh Heath who is den father was in charge of the program and games. Doris Halvorsen is den mother and Miss Wanda Holley ' and Doris Ann Hales spent the Christmas holidays at home. Christmas parties were held by several dens of the Cub Scouts of Mapleton last week to which their parents were invited. Den number one held their party at the home of Katherine Harris were pot luck supper was served. Raymond Bennett Ben-nett is cub chairman and was in charge. Gifts were exchanged and each parent was presented with a gift. A Den No. two met at the home of Helen Campbell with chairman Harold Barker in charge. They also presented their parents with key rings and baskets. Games and refreshments were enjoyed. Den number three were entertained enter-tained at the home of Cora Ellis and Den number five were guests at the home of Rebecca Fullmer. Their parents were also present and were presented with gifts. Gifts were exchnaged among the scouts. Caroline Everett who is attending attend-ing school at the Agricultural College Col-lege at Logan spent the holidays at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Everett. Mrs. Zina Dibble and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Dibble and family and Mr. and Mrs. Burton Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Carlo Perkins spent Christmas Day in Payson at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Dibble and family. ... Darrell Warren, son of Bishop and Mrs. Welby Warren and Bliss Harmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harmer who are attending school at Snow College ,at Ephraim are home for the holidays. Mrs. Dorthy Dibble and daughters daugh-ters Linda and Sharon of Salt Lake City visited with relatives and friends in Mapleton Christmas day. Sharon will remain a week as guest of Marva and Mary Dibble Mrs. Francis Pate returned home Tuesday after visiting three weeks with her mother, Mrs. Strauser, who lives in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chipman and family of Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Laird of Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jensen and family and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Jensen of Mapleton were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Jensen Christmas day. John and Ann Chipman are spending the holiday week with their grandparents. grand-parents.
