Show ception Sunday To Honor Mrs. Sarah Dalton . i ELVA AVERETT WAS CLUB HOSTESS to members of the Old Friends poup at her home. Cards were enjoyed en-joyed and a delicious luncheon was served at small tables. During the evening's games, Mrs. Odessa Childs was awarded high score prize and Mrs. Gertrude Clements the consolation. Mrs. Helen Haymond was a special guest. r In celebration of her 73rd birthday birth-day anniversary, Mrs. Sarah Dalton Dal-ton will be honored with an open house reception to be given by her daughters, Mrs. Grant Thorn and Mrs. M. F. Burns, at the Thorn home, 328 South Second East street, from 3 until 5 p. m. Sunday. An invitation is extended to all relatives and friends of Mrs. Dalton Dal-ton to call during the afternoon. Mrs. Dalton has spent practically practical-ly her entire life in Springville. She was born on June 6, 1869, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clements, early Springville settlers. set-tlers. She has taken an active part in church and community affairs. She has seven sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Maland Dalton, New York City; Jess Dalton and Mrs. Bess Adams, Los Angeles, Calif.; Howard How-ard Dalton, Honolulu, T. H.; Vern Dalton and Mrs. Sadie Burns of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Naomi Thorn of Springville. She also has six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Tripp and family of Salt Lake City, were Piests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. A. C Chader. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Boyer visited visit-ed the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Boyer, during the latter Part of last week. HOME CULTURE CLUB MEMBERS MET RECENTLY at the home of Mrs. W. R. Ed-dington, Ed-dington, retiring president, at the last regular meeting of the season. sea-son. It was a no-hostess affair and the luncheon was served buffet style from a table covered with a beautiful Mexican cloth and Mexican Mexi-can pottery was also used for the luncheon.. Lovely summer flowers decorated the entertaining rooms. The affairs of the club were turned over to the new officers during the afternoon, with Mrs. Hugh Baxter, president, and the remainder of the time was spent with social conversation. THE FIRST YEAR 4-H CLUB MET MONDAY at the home of their leader, Esther Hurst. The group made hot pads and were given instructions for other summer meetings. Present were: Dorothy Holley, Ruth Holley, Shirley Hansen, Connie Con-nie Warren, Marjorie Hopla, Ven-etta Ven-etta Mackley, Melba Larsen, Beth Perry, Joan Hurst, Lorna Brake, and Valene Thorn. |
