THE LEGION AUXILIARY MET LAST WEDNESDAY evening at Memorial hall under direction of President Marjorie Frandsen. The meeting featured the nomination of officers for the coming year, announced by Mrs. Clara Sumsion, chairman of the nominating committee. The election elec-tion was set for the June meeting. The annual poppy day plans were announced and Chairman Mabel Brown distributed poppies to be sold Saturday. The winners of the poppy poster contest conducted con-ducted in the high school by the Auxiliary were announced and first prize award presented to Dean Hafen and the second to Marian Francis. Following the regular program a party was held featuring card games, in which Mrs. Mabel Brown won high score prize for "500" and Mrs. Manilla Brown for contract bridge. Tasty refreshments were served to approximately 45 unit members. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Mae Fletcher, Mrs. Fern Whitney, and Mrs. Hilda Grant. . THE JOHN R. KINDREDS ENTERTAINED SUNDAY for their son, Ted, and bride, Iris Lynn, at a nicely arranged dinner at their home. Covers were arranged for Mr. and Mrs. Orvel Lynn of Lovell, Wyo., Mrs. Estella Dorr and Mrs. Gwen Asa, also of Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fifield and children of Heber City, the guests of honor, and host and hostess. MRS. FLOSS CATES WAS HOSTESS TUESDAY to members of the Fidelity club at her home. Luncheon preceded bridge and for the games Mrs. Rose Roylance, Mrs. Ann Johnson and Mrs. Mary Clegg were awarded award-ed prizes. Others present were Mrs. Marg Davis, Mrs. Florence Boyer, Mrs. Olive Miller, Mrs. Fay Cranmer, and' Mrs. Esther Johnson, the latter lat-ter being a special, guest. MBS. FAY SNELSON. WAS HOSTESS MONDAY evening to members of her bridge club at her home. A tasty luncheon lunch-eon preceded an enjoyable evening of cards, in which prizes were won by Mrs. Gwen Baxter and Mrs. Crystal Poulsen. Others attending were: Mrs. Marjorie Frandsen and Mrs. Hazel Walker, special guests, Mrs. Ra-mola Ra-mola Norton, Mrs. Ellen Anderson, Mrs. Jennie Brown, and Mrs. Ruby Twitchell, members. A way to make new flannel-like fabric by "welding" together fibers fi-bers rather than by weaving them has just been patented. The "weld"-produced cloth is said to be strong, soft and flexible and to stand rough wear. |
