Show 53RD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. George L. McKen-zie, McKen-zie, pioneer residents and prominent promin-ent citizens of this community, observed their fifty-third wedding anniversary New Year's day. A number of friends and relatives called to extend facilitations. Both Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie were born in Springville in 1858, Mr. McKenzie on August 25, and Mrs. McKenzie on December 6. They moved in their present home when they were married and have lived there since. Mr. McKenzie, an early railroad contractor in this community, later engaged in the mercantile business and also dairying. He served as Third ward Sunday school superintendent 17 years and was a member of the ward bish oprie ten years. At the age of 14 he hauled feright with his brother Will from the far western states. Mrs. McKenzie has always been active in church and civic work. She was president of the Third ward Relief Society 11 years; a charter member of the local D. U. P.; an officer in the first retrenchment retrench-ment society, and later the M. I. A,, and she was also a member of the Third ward M. I. A. presidency presi-dency a number of years. |
