Show 'Bride Is Honored With Lovely Shower 1 A LOVELY AFFAIR WAS THE ALPHA BETA CLUB MEETING in the form of a breakfast at the home of Ida Worthen and Mrs. Ella Clyde Friday afternoon. The group elected Mrs. Emil Ostlund president for the coming year, with Mrs. W. W. Clyde, vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. Milton Harrison, secretary; Mrs. M. R. Straw, corresponding cor-responding secretarv. and Mrs. A. w - Mrs. Max L. Larsen, the former LaVern Sanford, was honored with a miscellaneous shower given by her sisters, Ina Sanford and Mrs. Lucille Heath, at the home of Mrs. Alice Ence, on Monday night. A delightful time was spent wih games and a delicious lunch. The bride-elect received a lovely assortment of useful and beautiful beauti-ful gifts. Approximately thirty relatives and friends were in attendance. 0. Packard, treasurer. Members of the executive committee com-mittee elected include: Mrs. Ella Clyde and Mrs. G. W. Menden-hall, Menden-hall, with Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Mrs. H. M. Weight and Ida Worthen Wor-then constituting the program committee; Mrs. M. R. Straw, parliamentarian; par-liamentarian; Mrs. F. C. Packard, health chairman; Mrs. Ray Richards, Rich-ards, press; Mrs. Carl Nelson, song leader; Mrs. William Witney, accompanist; Mrs. E. V. Crandall, art chairman; Mrs. Lillian Huntington, Hun-tington, historian. After the business meeting, progressive pro-gressive 500 was featured and prizes for the card games were won by Mrs. Bessie Reece of Provo Pro-vo and Mrs. Emil Ostlund. The club breakfast was served at one long table which held a beautiful centerpiece of daffodils. MRS. BERT GROESBECK ' WAS HOSTESS THURSDAY evening to members of the Ladies Literary club at her home. - Mrs. Hannah Clyde, vice-president, was in charge of the meeting. Follow-mg Follow-mg a nicely arranged luncheon, Mrs. Arva Bone gave an interesting interest-ing paper on "Women In National Nation-al Defense," and Mrs. Blanch Beal gave the play, "Spring," in a splendid manner. Aoororjriate mu- THE FIRST WARD JUNIOR GIRLS HELD A SOCIAL honoring their mothers Tuesday evening in the First ward hall. It was their annual spring festival program and approximately 35 members and guests were in attendance, at-tendance, including the mothers; also Mrs.. Warren Beardall, stake junior leader, Mrs. Blanch Ostlund, First ward president, Mrs. Maude Nielson, counselor, and Mrs. Olive Miller and Mrs. Blanch Nielson, leaders. A light lunch was served from one long table which held a centerpiece cen-terpiece of flags with tall tapers in red, white and blue. The program pro-gram . included a vocal . solo by Joyce Pierce, accompanied by Theo Childs, and a toast by Dorothy Doro-thy weight. Prayers were by Betty Rae Frazier and Hannah ; Marie Billings. MR. AND MRS. W. E. DUNN ENTERTAINED TUESDAY evening in honor of their - son, Bill, who has just reinlisted in the TJ. S. navy. He left Friday for San Francisco, Calif. HARRIET STRONG ENTERTAINED THURSDAY evening for members of the Versatility Ver-satility club at her home. Lunch was served early in the evening emphasizing a St. Patrick color scheme, and later Mrs. Evelyn Boyer, in an interesting manner, J reviewed the book, "Claudia." In attendance were Mrs. Ferl Bown, Mrs. Helen Rowland, Mrs. geraldine Atkinson,- Mrs.- Eulalia Livingston, Mrs. Elzina Laney, Mrs. Eloise Bird, Mrs. Evelyn Bird Mrs. Mae Miller, Mrs. Marva naylor, Mrs. Harriet Burt, Mrs. Minnie Walton of Provo, and Mrs. iNaomi Rowan, a guest from Salt Lake City. Charles T. Johnson and Mrs. Hat-tie Hat-tie Dunn Carter of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Kamas Nielson of Watson-ville, Watson-ville, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larabee, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dunn, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown, Bill Dunn, and Miss Ruth Cornaby of Spanish Fork. MRS. GWEN CUTLER WAS HOSTESS THURSDAY evening at her home to members of the Ave Delma club. A clever St. Patrick theme was carried out in table decorations and in a tasty lunch served early in the evening. During bridge games, prizes in the form of defense stamps were awarded to Mrs. Dolly Smith, Mrs. Merle Bradford and Mrs. Margaret Zabriskie, the latter two guests. There were in attendance eleven club members and besides Mrs. Bradford and Mrs. Zabriskie, Mrs. Elsie Robertson, Mrs. Viola Smith, Mrs. Maggie Crump and Mrs. Mary , Bird were guests. |
