Show Delphian Society, Mt. Maple Chapter, Sets Charter Signing Qeremony -2 Detailed arrangements are being be-ing made for what is expected to be an outstanding social event of the week, when the Mt. Maple chapter of the Delphian society, directed by President Catherine D. Wills, will conduct their charter signing party. The affair is planned for Friday evening beginning at 7:30 p. m., at the home of Mrs. W. W. Clyde. It will be formal and each member of the society is to invite one guest. Special invitations have also been extended to the president of the Provo chapter and another representative, rep-resentative, also the president of the Price chapter, and Mrs. F. R. Slopanskey of Salt Lake City, president pres-ident of the Delphian assembly, to attend the party. A delightful program pro-gram is being arranged to feature the entertainment. Refreshments will be under the direction of Mrs. Catherine D. Wills, Mrs. F. V. Martin, Mrs. F. L. Graham and Mrs. C. F. Franks. In charge of the candlelight ceremony cere-mony will be Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, Mrs. G. Ray Hales, and Mrs. J. W. Grant. PARI PASSU CLUB AND PARTNERS WERE GUESTS at a nicely arranged dinner-dance at Haase cafe on Friday evening, with Mrs. Rex Larsen and Mrs. Glen Law as hostesses. Dinner was served at a U-shaped table prettily decorated with red and white sweet peas, candles, and red and white heart-shaped favors suggestive of St. Valentine day. During the dinner, the guests enjoyed vocal solos by Bernice Pal-freyman, Pal-freyman, a toast on hearts by Beth Miller, and piano selections by Glen Law. Later dancing was a delightful delight-ful diversion. Attending the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Berton Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Finley Roylance, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Thompson of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. LaRell Johnson, Beth Miller, Ted Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Max Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam Clyde, Martha Bird, Earl Niel-son, Niel-son, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Johnson, Bernice Palfreyman, Dee Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Law, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Larsen, and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Clyde, the latter couple being be-ing special guests. MRS. NAOMI BEARD ALL CONDUCTED A MEETING of the Home Culture club on Friday Fri-day afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. R. Eddington. A paper on "Moral Rearmament" Rearma-ment" was given by Mrs. Ronald Thorpe to feature the program. Also Bobbie Eddington entertained entertain-ed with a violin selection, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Eddington. A tasty luncheon served by the hostess concluded the entertainment. A BRIDAL SHOWER WAS GIVEN FRIDAY evening in the club room of Memorial Mem-orial hall complimenting Mrs. Piatt Watts, the former Helen Dunn of this city, a bride of the past week. Hostesses at the party were Mrs. Thelma Clark, aunt, and Mrs. Maude Curtis, grandmother. A delightful time was spent with a program in which Mrs. Mae Huntington reviewed the book, "Demon Daughter." Grant Thorn gave vocal solos, accompanied by Robert Thorn, and the latter also entertained with piano numbers. Virginia Bird also gave vocal ' selections. se-lections. Tasty refreshments were served to about 50 guests, and the honored hon-ored guest was presented with many lovely gifts. MOTHERS' STUDY CLUB MEMBERS MET FRIDAY afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. G. Peterson, with Mrs. S. J. Boyer, club president, in charge. A talk on "Child Welfare" was given by Mrs. Clara Sumsion to feature the afternoon program. She discussed principally the positive posi-tive improvements made in health conditions since the United States became conscious of child health. Shirley Peterson entertained with a piano solo; Karen Peterson, Peter-son, a vocal number, accompanied by Shirley, and Shirley also gave a vocal solo, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Sumsion. Luncheon was served at the close of the meeting to eighteen club members and Mrs. Gene Pierce was a special guest. MRS. ROWENA RIGTRUP WAS HOSTESS MONDAY to the Firemen's auxiliary at her home, with Mrs. Mary Friel assisting. assist-ing. The women enjoyed a delicious luncheon and did Red Cross work. Present were Mrs. Noma Thorpe, Mrs. Marjorie Bird, Mrs. Delia Whitehead, Mrs. Leona Wilson, Mrs. Eva White, Mrs. Marva Taylor, Tay-lor, Mrs. Madelyn Despain, and the hostesses. MRS. NORMA CHILDS WAS CLUB HOSTESS to members of the Theta Tau group at her home on Wednesday evening. Following a tasty hot luncheon served early in the evening eve-ning progressive 500 was played with prizes for the games going to Mrs. Gertie Ruff and to Mrs. Fern Crandall. Attending the party were twelve club members and Mrs. Mabel Simkins and Mrs. Marie Fisher, special guests. |
