Show Local Couple Wed In Lovely Home tes : a MRS. W. R. GURR GAVE A PARTY for her son, Wayne, on the occasion occas-ion of his eighth birthday. The group enjoyed games and a delicious deli-cious luncheon and presented the guest of honor with many lovely birthday gifts. Present at the party were Marie Fullmer, Mary Elaine Wing, Marian Mar-ian Bird, Loretta Giles, Ardith Giles, Carol Beardall, Jean Aver-ett, Aver-ett, Joan Averett, LaRene Naylor, Barbara Giles, Harold Phillips, Von Long, Philip Haymond, Robert Averett, LaVar Felix, Ray Olsen, Edwin Olsen, LaMar Holt, Elaine, Afton and LaNyle Gurr. THE LADIES LITERARY CLUB MET SATURDAY evening at the home of Mrs. Glen Sumsion, to hear Mrs. Mae Huntington Hun-tington review the book, "Keys of the Kingdom," which was especially especial-ly enjoyed. President Julia Sumsion Sum-sion was in charge of the meeting and other program numbers included in-cluded a vocal solo by Mrs. Jessie Dalton and a vocal duet by Mrs. Dalton and Mrs. Mae Groesbeck, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Bess Mendenhall. Richard Sumsion also entertained with a piano number. num-ber. Preceding the program, a delicious deli-cious luncheon was served by the hostess to seventeen club members. Zina Johnson and Maria Johnson were special guests. Of interest to friends and relatives rela-tives here is announcement of the marriage of Miss Helen Dunn, daughcr of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewing of this city, and Piatt Watts, son of Mrs. Luttie -Watts, also of Springville. The ceremony was performed by Bishop A. G. Peterson of the First ward, last Tuesday evening at the home of the bride's parents, in the presence of immediate family members mem-bers and close friends. The bride was charming in a beautiful teal green suit with a corsage cor-sage of rosebuds and sweet peas. Immediateley after the ceremony, cere-mony, a wedding dinner was given giv-en in honor of the young couple at the Ewing home. A beautifully decorated dec-orated cake formed an attractive centerpiece for the table and covers cov-ers were arranged for immediate family members. Mr. Watts is employed at Mil-ford Mil-ford and the couple plan to make their home in that city. MRS. MAURINE HAYMOND WAS CLUB HOSTESS to members of the Jeune Mere group at her home on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Verda Jensen, Mrs. Hugh Roylance, Mrs. Inez Chader and Mrs. Pat Whiting were guests. During the evening, Mrs. Mary Bird entertained with a musical program. She played a number of operatic recordings, also some of her compositions and favorites requested re-quested by the members. Plans wer also discussed for the group to enroll in national defense work. A tasty lunch was served by the hostess. LA MENTA CLITi MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Averett at their home Saturday evening. The feature of entertainment was "500 rummy" and a delicious luncheon was served by the host and hostess. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Evans of Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hone, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Giles, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barker. |
