On Saturday evening a family party, to include children and grandchildren of the couple, will be held at the family home to celebrate cele-brate the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Weight were married mar-ried on December 14, 1S92, in the Manti temple. Mr. Weight was born in Springville, Spring-ville, April 28, 1S6S, a son of Frederick and Elizabeth Bocock Weight, early pioneers. At the age of 13 years, he began work of hauling cordwood for a mining company in Park City. He also worked in the timber, hauling ties for early day railroad construction. construc-tion. In his later life, he followed farming and stock raising and for a number of years has operated a ranch in Hobble Creek canyon. "He is an ardent church worker, especially in genealogy, and he has done much temple work the past 12 years. Mr. Weight was a member of the early day Marshall band, which furnished music for practically every community celebration and for a number of entertainments in Salt Lake City. He has made his home here always. Mrs. Nora C. Weight was born in Springville, April 6, 1874, a daughter of Moses D. and Olive Huntington Childs. She has always lived in Springville and during her early womanhood, when early day railroad construction was at its peak, she cooked for various camps. She attended the first church school in the old Seventies' and Elders' hall and also at the old Caffery building where Senior's cafe now is built. She has been active in church organizations and has done much research and temple work. She has also been a Relief Society teacher many years. The couple are parents of ten sons and daughters, with eight living as follows: G. Fred, Ella, Leo D., Lamar and Woodrow Weight, and Mrs. Iva Waters of Springville; Mrs. Bessie Stevens and Mrs. Bernice Gunn of Salt Lake City; also 25 grandchildren. |
