Thorpe, nee Barbara Giles Barbara Giles and Taylor Thorpe Are Wed in Pretty Home Rites; Live Here Lovely in every detail was the home wedding and reception honoring the new Mr. and Mrs. Taylor L. Thorpe held Wednesday evening of last week at the home of the bridegroom's parents, 3 Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thorpe in this city. The bride is the former Barbara Giles, pretty daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tadd Giles, also of Springville. Spring-ville. Before a group of immediate family members and close friends, Bishop Grant S. Thom performed the double ring ceremony and the reception followed. For her wedding gown, Barbara chose white nylon lace over" taf-fetta, taf-fetta, ballerina length with tight fitting bodice sequin trimmed and tiny buttons down the front. It was designed by the bride and made by her mother. Her veil of illusion was arranged to a lacy bonnet and she carried a bridal bouquet of stephanotis and satin ribbons centered with an orchid. Matron of honor was Mrs.' Lor-etta Lor-etta Blackett, sister of the bride and the bridesmaids who were also sisters of the bride and groom, included Ardith Ruff and LuDean Stallings. They wore sister dresses of white with orchid and white flowers. Both mothers were attired in blue and wore corsages of vanda orchids. A brother-in-law, Golden Stallings, Stall-ings, was best man and Paul Thorpe, brother to the groom, was junior best man. f The bridal party stood in front of the fireplace banked with orchid or-chid asters. Tiny pink swans filled with miniature orchid asters ringed ring-ed the wedding cake and pink candles lent a soft glow to the wedding scene. Serving was done on the patio at tables centered with crystal bowls of orchid-colored asters in an arrangement of angel hair. At the guest book was LaNyle Gurr and receiving guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Milton B. Giles and the Howard Thorpes. LaRene Naylor was the attendant attend-ant in the trousseau room and in the guest room were Ila Naylor, Burtha Billings and Mae Larsen. Serving was done by Colleen Billings, Bonnie Larsen,- Gloria Jean Barker, Barbara Haymond, Carma Barton, Kay Christensen. Kitchen duties were performed by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cutler, Mr. and Mrs. William Weight, and La-Wan-na Gurr. A beautiful 3-tiered wedding cake with white swans and pink and orchid trimmings topped with a tiny bride and groom graced a white-linen covered table. O n either side were pink tapers. Organ music throughout the evening was played by J. Lorin Jex of Orem. After the wedding reception, the couple left on' a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, the bride choosing a brown check suit with avacado accessories for her going-away. They are making their home at 290 West Third South in this city. |
