Lewis Bird of this city, were united in marriage last Tuesday evening in a ceremony performed at the home of the bridegroom's bride-groom's parents. Bishop J. Y. Bearnson of the Fifth ward officiated with immediate family members and close friends in attendance. Standing before a flower-banked fireplace, the young couple had as their attendants, Mrs. LaRue Steele of Salina, sister of the bride, as matron of honor; little Barbara Bird' attired in pink organdy, flower girl, and Dan Bird was best man. The bride was charmingly attired in an afternoon dress of white organdy with eyelet trim and she held a pretty all-white all-white nosegay of carnations. An informal wedding reception for members of the wedding wed-ding party and friends followed the ceremony, when the young couple cut their wedding cake. String music was furnished fur-nished by the Misses Dorothy Clark, Elaine Jessee and Norma Sumsion. Complimenting the bride, a shower was given at the Mapleton ward chapel last Thursday evening attended by more than a hundred relatives and friends. Mrs. Pearl HoIIey was mistress of ceremonies and announced an-nounced a program of music and readings. Mrs. Ethel Jensen Jen-sen gave a toast to the guest of honor; Mrs. Iris Dibble, readings; read-ings; Mrs. Erma Morgan, readings; Mrs. Edna Knight, a piano selection; Mrs. Thora Whiting, a vocal selection, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. LaRue Steele and Miss Teddy Braun, a dance number. The party was concluded with refreshments served by hostess, Mrs. George Stone and Mrs. Lewis Bird, assisted by aunts of the rjnde. |
