The days of gangsters, prohibition and con artists are re-created in the Oscar-winning film 'The Sting,' airing on the 'ABC Sunday Night Movie,' Nov. 5. Paul Newman and Robert Red-ford Red-ford (pictured) star as Henry Gondorff, an experienced con man, and Johnny Hooker, his young apprentice who team up to avenge the death of a friend. The "mark" is Doyle Lonnigan (Robert Shaw), a rich, proud and vengeful gangster. Newman and Redford hire a group of shady, two-bit hustlers and teach them the elaborate lost art known as "the con." The idea is to cheat Doyle Lonnigan out of half-a-million dollars and never let him know who, how or why. Newman and Redford must outwit and outrun the cops, the feds, the hoods and each other to complete the con and reach the beautifully satisfying "sting."
